This is kind of heatpad I use in my heatslabs : http://www.reptiledirect.com.au/p/84/GCE-201-Heat-Mat-7W.html
this is the kind of thermostat I use to control all my heat slabs at 37oC for the beardies , 34oC for the skinks : http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-Digital-Thermostat-for-Reptile-Snake-Lizard-Heat-Mat-Lamp-Incubator-Aquarium-Dropshipping/1364585658.html , is very simple, attach the probe to the heat slab/pad, plug the heatpad into to thermostat powersocket, adjust the temperature aimpoint , set and forget. I chose this kind of thermostat as it is builtin limited to a max of 38oC , which means it will go open circuit and turn off the heatpad if the temperature exceeds this.
Do yourself a favour and check Ebay, a lot of stuff is sold over Ebay that's designed for reptiles, and some of the bigger specialist reptile supply shops have a presence there.
Also don't let yourself be talked into buying a combined thermostat timer device - my experience with these is they are not as good as advertised and they'll drive you crazy programming them and responding to audible "beeping" alarms and they'll cost a lot of money.
