This is my new girl, she is one of Barbara's babies from the first clutch and was born on 7/17. Her proud parents are Ms. Tiggs & PVT Blaze. As we know, all Barb's beardies are spoiled.
She had a long trip from CA yesterday, all the way to NY. She arrived 12:30 today. She is gorgeous, has orange colored eyes and is a real sweetie.

I had a problem with Photobucket, promise to put up more pics later. She had a bath, ate a few greens & a little squash as well as 2 crickets. She has been cuddled quite a bit already. And, as Barbara knows, she loves to run up your hand & arm when you try to put her back in. :D
Her stress marks are gone right now, she laid on my lap and snuggled into my hand.

I'm not sure I understand, Christine. The CC I had came with a dosing chart.

I went to get the instructions.....this is my confusion, it says mixing instructions: 15 spoonfuls per 6cc of water to reconstitute. It ends up being like paste.......then how can you measure the cc's am't for the dose recommended when it's practically in solid form. Am I thick about this or what?

That's ringing a bell. It seems like the babyfood helped water it down some. I may have even added a bit more water. I was NEVER able to get the full dose into Lils, it was a TON for her weight. I feel like Vicky said this is the one that you cannot OD on and is fine for long term use, but I don't remember for sure.

I'm telling you 15 spoonful per 6cc makes a cement block and I have watered it down but then it seems like the dosage they want you to give would be off, that's what doesn't make sense to me. I don't mean to beat a dead horse about this......(what a horrible statement when you think of it) Didn't mean to offend. I just don't get it.

Christine, I actually didn't measure it exactly, just mixed some in and made it the consistency I wanted it to be using the baby food. I agree that it doesn't have to be exactly by the measurements. Something else to keep in mind is that the mixing instructions are actually for a reptile that isn't eating anything else so since you're using it as a supplement, should be fine to mix it so that you get the right consistency. Hope that makes sense.

Misty was doing better today. Josh fed her 6 supers and a little while ago, I got her to take a few licks, 5 actually of baby food pears with a little calcium boost in it. :D She ran around a little today too.

So Bella keeps laying an egg a day? If she comfy and it's not making her overtired, sounds like a better way to lay them anyway. And how's Misty doing, no more eggs to date? At least she's eating and getting around again. She had alot of good weight on her before she lay, so that's good. Sweetie's eggs are small, too, we're glad because she always lays between 25-30. Bella's are infertile, too, they're smaller than fertilized eggs would have been. I've opened one of Sweetie's eggs and there is a lovely bright orange yolk and lots of it for the size of the egg.

Now that Belle's laid her eggs, we'll have babies in about 2 mo. That'll be fun.

As for Misty & Belle laying again, it's always a guess. The best way to tell is when they lay small poops with urates all around. Those are scent for the males to follow, took us awhile to figure that one out. but now we know if we find a "present" it's egg time. Running around alot about a week before is another sign in some. Then stopping eating 3-4 days before they start digging in the corner of their vivs or on the carpeted floor that's Sweetie's main sign. Expecting a poop in the bath & getting an egg instead. So there are a few signs that seem to be consistent. I also looked into spaying Sweetie, but was told it was too difficult a surgery and wasn't at all recommended. So that's out, we'll just have to support her every month  and hope she retires soon!

Hugs,
Deb

Yes, I would say that it's a sign of spring but you sure can't tell by looking out our windows. We're supposed to have snow/sleet/rain tonight and tomorrow. IS IT EVER GONNA END?

Christine, what you've been doing sounds like a good plan. As long as it works for you and she is taking it, then that's the best way.

Misty ran around a little tonight and ate 8 crickets. Also licked off a little squash and pear baby food with a little bit of brewer's yeast in it. It was so great to see her eat. She hasn't pooped in 2 days though and she expects to be able to do that every time she's in her bath. Well, maybe tomorrow. No more eggs which is fine with me {and her}.

Gee Deb, so Sweetie is at it again, good that they're smaller and spaced out, should help make it easier for her and not such a concern for you.

Yeah, now I know what to watch for. There were a few things different than I had read about before. Misty hadn't eaten feeders in many weeks and had run around and glass danced like crazy for weeks too, that behavior not being 3 to 4 days to a wk seemed like forever and through me a curve. Also, she had been laying small poops with a larger amt of urates for about 2 wks too rather than just before she laid. I guess they can all do things a little differently but perhaps since it was her 1st time, the usual getting ready to lay behavior lasted a little longer. Who knows. :dontknow: She also never really did any digging and wasn't interested in doing that at all.

I hope Sweetie totally retires from the egg laying very soon, she deserves a big pension for all of her hard work over the years. :p

Funny thing is, in our area we could get snow sometime between tomorrow (Friday) and Sunday. Even Tucson, AZ is saying they could get snow. I'll believe it when I see it.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
