This is my new girl, she is one of Barbara's babies from the first clutch and was born on 7/17. Her proud parents are Ms. Tiggs & PVT Blaze. As we know, all Barb's beardies are spoiled.
She had a long trip from CA yesterday, all the way to NY. She arrived 12:30 today. She is gorgeous, has orange colored eyes and is a real sweetie.

I had a problem with Photobucket, promise to put up more pics later. She had a bath, ate a few greens & a little squash as well as 2 crickets. She has been cuddled quite a bit already. And, as Barbara knows, she loves to run up your hand & arm when you try to put her back in. :D
Her stress marks are gone right now, she laid on my lap and snuggled into my hand.

Hi Diane, sounds like you're doing everything Misty needs you to do. Bet you can't wait until all the eggs are laid. At least she was a good weight before this happened, which is good. Hope it's a one-off, not like Sweete, as Misty is alot younger than Sweetie was when she started. Is Misty still eating? Thanks for updating!

I'm so glad Dore was able to get Anne, she'll be a good companion for her.

Hugs to all of you, Sweetie sends a big hug to Misty and Sabrina.

Well, Misty laid a total of 10 eggs. Hopefully she's done. The 5 she laid during the night. She woke up the usual time I wake her when I have to work at 6:30, had her bright colors on so I brought her down and gave her a bath. She ate 3 butters, 1 calcium dusted cricket and licked a little water off her nose. She looked SO tired. I took her back up to her tank and she ate 2 more butters but it doesn't look like she ate any of her greens today. She wouldn't eat anything this afternoon or tonight though and I even tried baby food but did drink a little bit. She walked around a little this afternoon and Josh gave her a bath. Took a little time to settle her down for the night, she probably doesn't want to go through the same thing she did last night.

Gee Christine, that's the same way I found Misty's eggs although it was in the afternoon. One on her basking spot and the other on the shelf liner. I was shocked too! That's amazing that she laid them while you were holding her and even in your hand, guess she felt very comfortable with you. :D Guess a lay box doesn't work for our girls. Misty laid 1 in the bath and one on the kitchen table while I was trying to feed her some baby food. She didn't lay any more today, did she?

Yes Sara, I had to work today and the roads were very slippery. We got 4 more inches of snow between tonight and this morning.

Thanks Deb, hope I'm doing everything right. I have given others lots of advice about egg laying but it is SO different when it's your own, makes you feel inept and not thinking clearly. I sure hope she is done now. Yes the 567 grams was a good wt, I'll have to weigh her in the next few days and see wht she is down to now. How old was Sweetie when she laid her very first clutch, I know that was a while ago.

We're thrilled that Dore & Annie found each other, the timing was perfect!

Misty & Sabrina send hugs right back.

Awwwwwwwwwww, hope Misty is finished for now. Bella layed 1 more egg in the bath today (14 total) and I'm hoping she's done but I've heard that 20 to 30 eggs are normal. She looks so tired, and her head fat pads have flatten, she only took babyfood and water today, so we'll see what tomorrow brings. Gabby looks big and pear shaped too, so I don't know if I'll be having an instant replay or not. Even Scarlett looks bigger, I may be hallucinating with all this :?: :?:

Wow, 14 is quite a few for the 1st time & infertiles. Barbara told me that the first lay a lot of times is less so perhaps Bella is done now. Misty's head has flattened some too but I guess that's normal. She's not wrinkled at all and her eyes look nice & bright. Misty was never much for baby food so kinda difficult to get calcium into her. Hopefully Gabby isn't getting ready to lay too. Perhaps you've been so involved with Bella that it just makes you think they might be bigger. :dontknow:

 It's an eggademic!

So many little baby girls becoming little ladies right now... :love5:

Diane if Misty is not as plump as you'd like or not plump at all on her head I'd give her a few days of CC to get her up and going. I've had to do this with Tiggs on occassion since she only gives me 21 days between clutches to fatten her up for the next. When I use it for that I don't feed but one feeding in the morning of the CC to trigger her appetite...though you could use it more feedings per day. It is normal for the head to loose it's plumpness when they lay, but you want it and her to spring back rather quickly incase there are more clutches to come. :silent:

Extra, Warm, Hugs & Snuggles!

Continuing prayers to Dore, Paul, you, an your's. :love5:

Christine the amount of eggs do depend on many things genetics mainly, the potentcy of the male when they have been bred, which of course isn't the case with your girl or Misty....All around health, age of beardie, and whether they are infertile or fertile may also make a difference in how many they lay. The first clutch on an average is the smallest clutch they lay then they get larger. Not always the case though with infertiles, they may only lay once or only a few each time. Though females that live with males in the same room sometimes will lay more...like it triggers something. Some females as you know never lay eggs(more times than not are an only beardie and not been expose to a male since sibs, or males live in the other end of the house) and some will only lay one small clutch per year. Then we have Sweetie  , Deb's girl that thinks she's a chicken. LOL Poor Deb and Roger...I so feel for them.

Another thing, Diane (I think I posted this on Bella's thread, not yours) is pedialyte. My vet said to mix half pedialyte half water and even bathe in a pedialyte mixture. I guess the whole process is kind of dehydrating. Lilly wouldn't eat CC on it's own, but would gobble it if I mixed in baby food. Will she eat any fruit? I added some pear baby food that made it irresistible for Lils.

Misty was wide awake this morning but she didn't look too happy about being in her tank. I brought her down, gave her a long bath and she took a normal looking poop, 1st time in long time. As I was washing it down, she was struggling to get back in so she soaked for about another 1/2 hr. She doesn't care much for baby food but I did finally get her to lick a little baby food pears (thanks for the idea Sara) off her nose with liquid calcium in it and she ate one better but that's it so far. She actually ran around some too which surprised me. I weighed her today and she went from 567 g on 2/16 to 541 now so the eggs weighed about 26 grams. Right now she is standing up on a fluffy pillow in front of a sunny window and looking very content. :p
Barb, I have CC on hand that I'll try but I doubt she will take it. I may be able to get her to take a little bit in a small amount of fruit baby food though. She has never liked licking the baby food off her nose, Judas never licks much either.
Pedialyte is a good idea too Sara although I don't have any on hand right now. Will have to see what I can do. I have some Electrovites that I put in the water when Misty had that episode that dehydrated her so quickly so I think I will do that again, it sure helped before.

Diane, that's great that Misty soaked, pooped and ran around! Did she eat any bugs today? Belle actually lost 39 grams! I wonder why the difference?? I had thought about doing CC as well but she ate today so I don't wanna overstuff her...

I do have everyone in the same room, 4 males, 3 females but they're all on the same wall, and I'm very protective that no one sees each other. I wonder if they smell each other, what do you think? Thanks for the info...

I don't mean to be hijacking your thread Diane, but we're all in the same boat, I hope you don't mind. How is Misty tonight? Did she lay any more eggs today? How do you give the CC, do you sprinkle an amount over the food or do you measure it out and reconstitute it? I think the directions are confusing. let me know what you think please.

When I did CC I measured the amount (was it like 1 scoop or something? I dont remember?) then added some baby food, then added water until I got the right consistency. It had to be like easily gotten out of the dropper (or else you'll end up squirting it everywhere) but not runny or else it would get off over Lils and she would wipe it on me.
Diane, will Misty eat applesauce? Just another thought (where do these keep coming from?!)

Hi Katrina. Misty only ate 1 butter today and licked a little pear baby food with liquid calcium in it. She looks at the feeders and then looks away. I'm thinking that perhaps Belle lost more wt because the eggs were fertile so probably heavier. I've also heard that the fertile eggs are a little bigger in size. Also, Misty only laid 10 of them. So, I imagine all those things made a difference in the small amt she lost. Did Belle eat greens and a few feeders? Did your butters arrive yet? Does she act tired out? Misty crashed at about 5:00 so I picked her up and put her in her blanket early, she never even did the butt wiggle so I guess she didn't even know that I moved her.

No problem Christine, you're right, we're all in this together. I wanted to add that your beardies probably do smell and hear each other, their senses are so strong.

Misty didn't lay any more eggs, just the 10. I have mixed the CC with water and given it that way and also mixed it in baby food, either way works fine. I agree with Sara, that you have to get the right consistency because if it's too thin, my beardies shut their eyes and won't even consider taking it if it runs down the sides of their mouths. Yes Sara, I have tried applesauce, she does take maybe 3 licks of fruit usually but that's it.

Thanks Diane, I know what you mean about the consistency of food given, but it's the measurement of CC that I'm not sure of, can you use too much powder in one single dose?

Actually, I would be sure that you didn't make it too strong and would kinda go by the measurements, sorry, don't have them in front of me right now. If the taste was too overbearing for her, she may not want to take it at all either. You can make it somewhat watery and then add baby food as needed to thicken it a little.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
