Powersun UV

Does anybody have any opinions about the Powersun UV heating and UVB all in one bulb? Thinking about getting one for my beardie and wanted to know if it is actually worth the $50.

Unfortunately, the MVB's haven't been corrected of all the problems yet. A few members here have managed to get decent bulbs but at this point, we really can't recommend using them.

I don't have any experience with MVB, but from what I have heard, the Powersun is a good bulb. There have been many threads asking about them, and I haven't heard anything negative. I've even heard that they are great for MBD dragons. The enclosure you have is the smallest you can have for that bulb, too.

I actually asked Frances Baines (the woman that does the UVB testing) and she said that she really can't recommend ANY MVB's at this time. She is still recommending the Repti-Sun 10.0 fluorescent tube and the Arcadia D3 12% UVB kits that are now available is the U.S.

WOW, coming from Dr. Baines - I would heed her advice. I've read her site up and down and she is a great researcher.

Anything that isn't 100% safe and proven safe shouldn't be considered/recommend.

I'd go with the tried and tested Reptisun 10.0, or the arcadia 12%

I've never looked the Powersun up on her site, so I am going to do that right now. I've learned so much about light wavelengths and D3 from her site, though. I finally understand the whole process. I think the more reptile owners understand, they will be less likely to be lax about the proper lighting and supplements. When I was on her site last week, she had all of the research areas down and they were being totally rewritten. :shock: I can't wait for her entire site to be back up.

I also want the new Arcadias for my dragons. Have you seen her new video?? The one that shows the gradient?? Mindblowing to see it all drawn as a graph under each light. Just totally opened my eyes to where the UVB really reaches. Those compact/coils are USELESS. Not because of potential eye damage, but because of the UV gradient. They are utterly useless for desert dragons.

I don't think she's updated her site yet, she is still doing thorough tests so she can give us all her detailed info.

She highly recommends the Arcadias though. I totally agree about the coil & compact bulbs, useless and very dangerous!

I saw her drawing of the Arcadia UV gradient and it was far superior. The UVB reached pretty far down, which was really impressive.
