Yes they can. I caught them! But for extra certainty I added a step-egg crate

Mine looked just like yours when I started. Thumbs up on the step-egg crate I noticed they didn't eat the oranges as much in mine. Then I kinda covered it with an egg crate and I guess the dubias didn't have to run across the "No mans land" for the food and ate more.
