Hello Everyone,

Mr. Pink (Reservoir Dogs) just turned three mos. old and he wanted to wish you all a terrific day and give you a big beardie smile. I gotta happy movie star over here!

To all of you new beardie owners out there like me, don't get all crazy in the paint with your lighting setup. All I had to do was create a small spot with UVA that gets to 110 °F, add UVB 10.0 (no coil bulb), and Mr. Pink scoots to his favorite spots and uses gaping to monitor his own temperature. I have one happy beardie here and the lighting was simple.

Mr. Pink is looking fab and I know he loves that matching pink basking rock. He's at the age where most beardies have an explosion of growth, eating larger bugs, etc . He will outgrow that tank now very soon too.

Mr. Pink will have a 120-gallon enclosure from Zen Habitats (https://www.zenhabitats.com/products/zen-habitat-w-wood-panels) this month. Wait until you see his smile when he moves into these new digs! As you said, Mr. Pink is getting big fast. Just this morning, Mr. Pink's eyes bulged out and it looked like they were going to explode. His torso puffed up to double the size, and I saw with my own eyes, his dead skin rip from neck to vent down his back. I misted him down, which he always loves, and he is in the process of using his coconut fiber substrate to peel all that old skin off like an old jacket. Mr. Pink is fantastic and I love being a beardie dad!

Sounds great for you new tank I have 2 of them -- I do recommend you get rid of the coconut fiber substrate -- if its ingested the outcome will not be good -
Health Concerns. Still, the use of particulate substrates, including sand and coconut fiber, for bearded dragons is controversial. ... Both sand and coconut fiber are not digestible by him and can cause an intestinal impaction, which is life threatening.
I would use some paper towels in there for now til the Zen comes ---

Karrie, when Mr. Pink's new home gets here I will already have custom non-glazed porcelain tile cut for the enclosure by Home Depot. It will look amazing and I will make damned sure Mr. Pink never gets impacted by particle substrate.

Ok -- I am using tile in mine as well from Home Depot -- make sure you get some w/ texture so hes not slipping and not too course as well - you dont want him scraping his tummy- this is what I am using in mine

OMG, just in the last 30 minutes, Mr. Pink's whole torso erupted in shed. I will leave him alone until he gets the old jacket off and I can tell he is irritated as hell by this process. He already looks bigger!

When Mr. Pink gets that old skin off his body and gets his appetite back, I will give him a delicious treat of fat crickets from Desert Pet that are gut loaded with strawberries and kiwi. Mr. Pink will be in good shape, he knows how to get rid of his old jacket. :lol:

This was an amazing process to watch. Mr. Pink has, in a matter of several hours, completed his shed and now he is hungry as hell. I am going to Desert Pet to buy his cricket reward and this was a growing experience I am glad I did not miss. Mr. Pink is a cool dude. 8)

Mr. Pink has completed his 3 mo. shedding and he is in his plant relaxing and blowing off stress. You can see all the big pieces of skin in his enclosure and he pooped like a horse during the shedding process. I just misted my little guy and I suspect he is ready for a nap, all stretched out on his perch.
