Megaray through fine mesh

If I have my 100watt megaray on top of my exoterra enclosure with the fine metal mesh what would a safe distance be. I know 12 inches is what I use without a screen so is it safe to go a little closer with the fine mesh screen?

Depending on how fine it is, could be up to a 50% reduction. So if it's super fine you can half the distance since the output is half. If it's the coarser thread it would be more towards 30% reduction or so

I just measured my MegaRay 100w through the mesh top of the Exo Terra. I'd put the basking area about 6-8'' below the bulb. The mesh cuts quite a bit of output. You'll get about the same exposure at 6'' as you would at 12'' without the mesh based on what I saw.
