Well it would helo if we knew what the symptoms of your dragon was showing that gave you the clue of them having a URI? Was there a noticable wheezing or popping sounds while breathing? What are your temps hot and cold side? I am not sure of any other symptoms of a URI except for the sounds made while breathing and supposed labored breathing. I tried to find something else online and the only thing that I didn't know about was this video on youtube of a kid kinda messign with his dragon and these beard puffs looked like a bullfrog. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dz4pv-9u1T8. I am not sure if this is from stress of a bike ride or what. Maybe someone with some experience could post the symptoms of a URI and what to look for for you and then you could decide for sure if it is a URI or not?

I already know that it is an upper respiratory infection. I brought two of them to the vet last year and even thou he didn't tell me for sure that it was that i knew it was that and he gave me baytril, they got better for a little while then it came back. I just don't have $200 to take three of them in, to have them tell me they don't know what it is and just give me baytril again. So if anyone knows where i can get some baytril or something maybe a little stronger and can tell me how much to give per weight of grams of beardie that would be very helpfull.

Thank, Beth

Hello Beth,

Can you review your tank setup just a little bit with us? What are the temperatures in your tank? What type of thermometer are you using, a stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
Are you measuring the humidity as well?
What is their appetite like recently?
I can give you a site that sells Baytril & will dose it for you as well. I do recommend that you get some probiotics as well because the Baytril is a little harsh on their system.

I will send you the site via PM. We like to make sure that people don't automatically medicate their reptiles without the proper knowledge beforehand, since they are so tricky to diagnose a lot of times. :D

My temps in the tank are around 110 on the hot side and 85 on the cool side which is correct. I am using a pocket temp from proproducts.com. I don't keep track of the humidity but i am pretty sure that is in not high at all, i have a room with them all in it with ten heat bulbs in the room which sucks the humidity out of the room. I have reserarched the uri symptoms the first time around and that is what my conclusion was and the vet was not sure but that is what he susspected too.

Two of the ones that are sick are eatting fine but one of them have lost weight and not eatting very well, i am getting worried about him (He is like 6 or 7 years old too).

Thanks, Beth

Hello Beth,

Ok, the temperatures sound fine, & the humidity is most likely more on the low end rather than the high with all of those lights going in the room.
Good to hear that 2 of them are eating well, but the other one must be a little more ill. I hope that the Baytril will help him out. I sent you the doses via PM for you. Be sure to keep them well hydrated during their medication round, that is very important.
I hope they start feeling better soon.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
