Hello,

This is the story of how we got our two baby dragons. It all started when my daughter brought home a beardie the whole family fell in love with him. You know some teens get when they get moody *dont touch him hes my beardie* gah it hurt because everyone loved him and played with him fed him we all pitched in. She even go so moody one day she moved his viv to her room so no one could see or play with him. (girls and pms :roll: )So i made a thread http://www.beardeddragon.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=98235 * I want a BD for myself* i guess there was a few people who were in the same boat as me. Being a BD grandma is tuff! (She of course got over it and moved him back down stairs) I wanted to get one who might need a little more care or love thought first thing *rescue* I was checking cragelist daily not one bd post in the weeks i was looking. Then a breeder(DistDrag) posted on the thread letting me know he had 2 babys just hatched out that had small issues, one with a crooked tail and one with a leg that didnt work. They were the cutest things! I still had to get the ok from my hubby once he seen those pics he was hooked!! So he let me take them both! They were still way to young for me to get yet so we were happy to leave them with the breeder(DistDrag)till they were safe to travel. He kept us posted on how they were doing and posted updated pictures. The day came to where they were ready to be sent to us. Oh boy i was so excited i couldnt sleep and kept a eye out the window for them to get here! <-- that was me 10 fold lol I heard the UPS man drive up and i was out the door!

This is the one with the left foot that dosnt work(My hubbys) He/she dosnt have a name yet.

This is the one with the kink in the tail. I call her Roo short for Kangaroo.

Heres a comparison between Chimera and Roo.

They are both from the same clutch they are 1 month 1 week old and 6 1/2 inches long.

We will never let more than 1 of beardies to be out of their viv's at one time. Except for the 2 new babys just for a while so we can sit and watch tv with them to get them used to us. They both have their own vivs. I have to say ty to everyone! I have learned so much since i have joined! I dont think our babys would be as healthy as they are if it wasnt for all of you!

I named her Kangaroo because she uses her tail like you said Miso does. She will bend it and have all 4's on the glass just sitting there looking out. If my daughter didnt take her camera to her grandmas I would of had a picture. I about died laughing.

I have to say I love them not being perfect. I think it makes them more special being diffrent

My hubby just cant seam to find a name that he likes yet so for now Leggie is still Leggie

They are both from the same clutch had something from the egg wrapt around the leg so it didnt develop fully. Not sure about Roos tail but we all love them very much. I can tell you one thing just because that leg dosn't work, i't dosnt stop her from zooming across the floor! She jumps up in her tree, up and down from her basking platform. I had posted wanting a beardie for myself and I wanted beardies with special needs or a rescue.

I can relate to Leggie zooming around with her being affected but not stopping her, I have a baby with only 1 foot and half a tail, and it doesn't stop her either, (link below, if interested).

All I can say is that they are so adorable, makes me want a new baby, :shock: yipes........I already have three, what am I thinking? Pringles maybe??????????

Okies Leggie finally has a name!

So we have a Roo and Lexi.

We finally have their Reptisun 10 all set up in their vivs.. gah took them forever to get here 6 days :shock:
They are getting more active and exploring not so jumpy anymore and goofy as ever! Theres been alot of splatting on the side of the viv's , reminds me of those garfields that had the suctioncups and you stuck them to your car windows.. I was thinking about putting in something soft or maybe a small stuffed animal in their viv's. Would that be ok for a little one? Can't put them in a beardie burito yet they wont stay zoom they are out of there! They are sleeping where ever they are when lights go out last night Roo fell asleep in a corner I can't wait till they are as big as Chimera we lay his blankie on his viv floor he runs over and lays down we throw the other half over him and hes :sleepy2: in 5 mins.

I love having babys... gah they are tooo cute they make you want more and more and more!! Gah I'm a addict!!! :lol:

I read your thread Christine. You have done a wonderful job! They are all so cute!

Love the name Lexi, isn't it so cute to see them zipping around and getting into weird positions, when Ollie and Py were that young I put them between light t-shirts at bed time on my chest, didn't do the burrito wrap unless they were getting a bath......... they are adults now, and they still go to sleep like that before I put them in their caves.......... very spoiled!!!!!!!!!

Garfield....... that was so cute, and I think it would be great to put a stuff animal in their viv, sometimes it's good to get 2 the same, in case they have a bm on it, you can replace it while your washing the other one........ are they in separate vivs or together?

We all have beardie addiction problems here, :lol: Maybe we should start a beardie anonymous? (Don't think it would work though)

Oh I won't risk the beardies by having them in the same viv I've seen to many horror storys on here to even think about it. They both have a 10g tank atm and have the same things in both viv's it was just easier to buy 2 of everything. My hubby was going to be building their 4x2x2 stackable viv's tomorrow but my oldest daughter is having her babyshower then so we put them off intill next weekend.

sixxmum, the best way I know to entice a spouse (or a child) is to actually have them hold one. Get him on here with you, and let him see just how easy it would be to have one. Then get the set ups all done, and go out for your own personal Beardie Owner !

We have two : ) But they belong to my teenagers and so I don't always get to play with them. LOL The dogs are mine (and one of the cats loves me best), however, and I suspect that DH would say that's enough. Harrumph!

Thats why I had to get one for myself my daughter would get mad and not let me play with Chimera even tho i fed him bathe him cause shes to lazy to get up early for school to do it. My hubby seen the pictures and feel head over heals and let me get them the deal was he got one too lol I had to give him the sad face a few times hehe :twisted:

This is Roo being a roo lol

I finally was able to snap a picture with out her running away. I think she was trying to get closer to her basking bulb. Temp where shes at is 106. She likes to hold onto the probe wire.Im happy to say unless shes basking she no longer has stress marks! Gah Roo is still a piggie 6 cricks and 1/2 her veggies this morning.

Lexi is finally settling down too. She ate her first veggies today all on her own! That just made my day! It was only 4 good bites but thats a start and she ate 25 cricks at one time!

We had to remove their trees .... both of them kept jumping for their UVB fixture! Its 7 1/2 inches from their basking area.

Does that look about right? If I need to make any changes please let me know its a Reptisun 10 18" same for both vivs.

I had to unmount Miso's temp probe because she was climbing it too.

Has Lexi's appetite picked up a little yet?

Oh yes Lexi has been eating like a champ now. I'm so happy about it too. Shes putting on the weight she is forming a nice little budda belly. She has alot more energy.. and boy when she had her tree in her cage that leg of hers didnt stop her from leaping all the way across her viv only to splat on the glass! :shock: I'm VERY happy to have them both in our familys lives. The keep me laughing all day long!

Holly does Miso have good control with the part of the tail after the kink? Ive noticed that Roo straitens hers out a bit or she will have the tail in a U shape too. I just noticed that yesterday.

Roo and Lexi are just the cutest little things! :love5: I am so smitten with them. I'm glad to hear that they're both eating, pooping and doing crazy things. Sounds like they're settling in just fine.
