Looks like one to me. Had to say without knowing what the parents were though. Like the above poster said, it could easily just be a dragon with reduced scales and not the genetic marker that makes a leatherback.

Someone is selling this dragon on Bid or Buy (it's like E-Bay for South Africans) and I don't want to waste R3000 (that's about $430) on a dragon that's not a leatherback.

I asked for additional pictures, I'll post them as soon as I receive them.

Shipping to SA could set me back from R8000 - R10000 (Almost $1430)

And that's not including the dragon, the quarantine fees etc.

I don't know of anyone that owns a genuine leatherback here is South Africa.

In my best opinion, without having any idea of the genetics would say not a leatherback, but definately reduced scales. I have always been under the impression (since I can't put actual experience to this statement)...that on leatherbacks not only are the scales reduced, but the spikes down the sides are not nearly as visible as the spikes on that beardie in the pic. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I could very well be wrong...but I think if someone is claiming leatherback and charging that much
then it better look more like this....

This one even seems to have rather large spikes on the sides to me. :dontknow:

Damn I can't see the pics!

Thing is here is South Africa most people don't know what kind of dragon they have.

People with yellow dragons call them bloods, people with brown dragons call them sandfires, people with lightish dragons call them snows. It's frustrating, people advertise bloods and when you actually see the dragon it's pretty much normal except for some orange markings here and there.

i once went to a petshop and I swaet it was a silky and they wouldn't sell it to me, because they were convinced it was sick.

Funny thing is I think this is one I bred, when I first started.

I bought a gorgeous citrus dragon a few months ago, only to find out that it's one of my babies all grown up! LOL!

Leathers come in degrees of smoothness. I own good examples of both ends of the spectrum.
Allesandra is the high end of the spectrum.

Georgia is the other end of the spectrum. Both leathers, just diff degrees of smoothness.
