first order a batch of 50 or so adult crickets. get a large tray such as a chinise food container and place that in the holding container. fill it up with peat moss about 5cm deep. now you should pick out the males and the females to breed. the female has three long hairs at the back and the male has two. the third hair on the back of the cricket is the egg layer. put about 10 - 15 males and 10 - 15 females in a normal holding container and provide food and water, also put the laying conatiner ( chinese food container) in the holding container for the female crickets to lay eggs. keep the holding container between 85f - 90f. after about a 10 days remove the chinese food container (they will now have eggs in them, you can hardly see them but they look like a small grain of rice, some will be buried) and put them in another holding container with food and water and keep it warm around 88f. they will start hatching after about two weeks. then if you want you can put another conatiner in the adult cricket container for them to lay eggs again. a female will only lay about 100 eggs in its lifetime so you can only do this a couple of times.

Are you sure those aren't maggots? I had that problem with my first batch of crix. I keep a moist sponge in my cricket container and some of the food got wet and I didn't realize it. A couple days later there were maggots. Are you cleaning your container regularly? I empty everything out of mine every Saturday and completely clean it out.

Those little hairy worms are the larvae of dermestid beetles, very common in cricket colonies. The beetles will help keep the cricket bin clean.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
