Heat rocks

I have a baby 6 1/2 inch and I use a heat rock at night..it does not get too hot so it's safe? :study:

NEVER use a heat rock! Beardies can't feel heat from below them, so she has no way of knowing if the rock is too hot unless it burns her. Plus, those things are known to short out and cause some seriosu damage.
You don't need and night heat unless the tems drop below 65*F. If you do need heat, get a CHE instead. They are MUCh safer.

Thanks. Just curious..if they cant feel heat then why does he always cuddle up with his heat pad or heat rock at night? And isn't a CHE a light? Sorry..IM new lol :lol: :study: :shock:

A CHE Emits heat and no light. It is what is recommended if you need to add heat during the night.

They can feel ambient heat around an area, so if a heating pad is giving off heat, the dragon will know that side is warmer than the cooler side.

The problem is, they don't detect heat from their bellies, so your dragon laying ontop of where the heat is coming from, is a big risk, as its much hotter at the belly than it is 2 or so inches off the heat rock.

Well, a lot of care pages are out of date, written by people selling you the product, and from inexperienced people.

None of us on here are trying to sell you anything, we genuinely just want what is best for you and your dragon.
