My dragons basking heT lamp just went out this morning and all the pet stores are closed. Can I get one at Lowes?

I use a flood lamp as a basking light. I got it at walmart, I was told that was fine as long as it is not the 'soft' light ones.

"Soft" lights are OK. Not the best, but sometimes the clear ones are hard to find.

You want to avoid the "Reveal" or "Clear-Sight" type bulbs, those are the ones that seem
bright to us but are dark to beardies.

For a basking lamp, I much prefer a Halogen Spotlight or Floodlight. (Lowes, Home Depot, etc)
They are WAY less expensive than those "basking" lamps from the pet store, and do a better job imo.

I started with a 100 watt "basking" lamp (which was still a bit too cool -- around 98 F) but now
I use a 75 watt Halogen Floodlight for the basking area and that still requires me to dim it about 10-15%
to stay at 107 F.

Probably. It's hard to tell the exact wattage you'll need as individual conditions vary.

Typically 65 to 75 watts (with a halogen spot/flood type) is sufficient.

I'd say pick up both a 65 and a 75 watt and take back the one you don't use.

I got the small 60 watt and it only got to 90* so I took it back and found out that the pet store sells the actually basking lamps for the same price and it got the temp past 100* so I think if you use the small ones a 75w would be perfect for a 20 gallon long but if you use the larger halogen bulbs I am sure 75 would be too hot. When I upgrade to the 40 gallon I will be using the larger halogen from lowes because the 150w basking from the pet store is twice as much.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
