I am sorry to hear about your gecko, in my opinion, the only downfall to having pets is having to deal with their lose.
Is the 30gal viv what you had been keeping your gecko in before he passed? if so make sure you throughly steralize the viv to kill any bacteria before introducing a new animal into the enclosure, that way the new animal wont contract any illnesses that may have contributed to the death of your gecko.

so my question is what other kind of reptile can i put in a 30gallon viv?
I'm not 100% sure, but I think Anoles, Box turtles, Spotted turtles, and Pacman Frogs would be able to live in a 30 gallon, aswell as some smaller speices of snake like the sand boa, king snake, or milk snake. I've also heard a lot of people say that Ball Python's can be housed in a 30 gallon, however I wouldn't recomend it.
