Oh my gosh. I have no idea. Does it belong to someone in the neighborhood?

For now, stop any bleeding and clean the wound if there is one.

If there is no open wound, give it a bath in lukewarm water up to his shoulders with constant supervision. If it poops in the water, change it out, and soak for a total of about 20 min. See if it will drink in the bath. If not, drip water on the nose. If necessary to get it to drink, as a bit of unsweetened juice to the water. Just get it hydrated. Dry it thoroughly.

Keep it warm. If you can, put a light bulb over his box. Wrap him in an old towel and cover his eyes so he can sleep. You can use a heating pad if you need to, instead. Just put it on LOW and put a couple layers of towel between the beardie and the pad. They do not detect heat from below and will not move off if it gets too hot.

Hopefully someone smarter than me will come on to help you soon.
I apologize if you just wanted a "yes" or "no" answer.

Best of luck,
Esther

Hello,

It could be mites. Do you have a way of posting a picture for us, as bad as that sounds, so we can assess his condition better?
Yes, they can live without a tail....however, if he is in that bad of condition I highly recommend getting him to a vet as soon as possible.
Can he get around at all, or support his body on all fours?

Oh wow! So sad. Amazing he is still alive. He must a have a very strong will to live. Thanks for trying to save him. Get him warm, hydrated and to a vet ASAP. See if you can bathe him in baby warm water just up to his armpits (keep his head lifted above the water if he is too weak to hold up himself) and rinse away some the dirt and debris from his wounds. As other poster mentioned, put some antibiotic ointment on the open tail wound. Rinse his eyes with clear water or saline. See if you can get him to drink some water with a needleless syringe. For now, rig up a regular light bulb above a rubbermaid tote or something similar for heat. I hesitate to suggest feeding anything at the moment (squash, chicken baby food) because his system may not be able to handle solid food right now. Maybe some sort of liquid nutrition? Slurries?

Hopefully, someone with more experience with these severely ill/injured rescues will be along soon with some more advice.

Hello,

Oh poor little guy!
He does not look well. Can you get him to a vet if at all possible for them to help clean up that tail & get some fluids into him?
Do you have a tank set up for him, yet? His beard is dark so he is severely distressed right now.
What foods are you trying to feed him? If he is not eating, go ahead & get some fluids into him or make a greens slurry. I am not sure he is ready for solid foods, either.
A bath daily would be a good idea also, but don't take your hand out of the bathwater with him so he doesn't get scared or drown since he is so weak right now.
I can't tell from the picture with regards to maggots or mites?
As suggested, get some antibiotic ointment on the tail area to help with the infection. The sterile saline solution should help also.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
