My Beardy has a hard growth growing from her left eye. What is it? What caused it? How can I fix it?? It seems to be growing as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lily, I'm sorry that your beardie has this growth right on her eye. :( It's probably some type of fungus [ not yellow fungus though ] and a vet will need to see it. They might remove it and hopefully it won't grow back.....can you find an experienced reptile vet ?

Hello,

Oh my, that is rather large. I am sure it is uncomfortable for him, too.
He does need to see a vet to have it removed. Do you have a vet you can take him in to see?
How has his appetite been?

She's been pretty ravenous lately - lots of worms and leafy greens. The growth looks like it bumps into her feeding dish when she eats but it doesn't really stop her from going at it.

Hello,

That's good it doesn't stop her from eating. I hope you are able to get that removed so she feels better.
Keep us posted on her.

Hello,

Definitely let us know how your dragon's eye is doing. I hope you were able to get her to the vets.

We took her to the vet last week. The growth is a solid mass and will have to be cut off. We're working on saving up for it right now ($800...yeesh). But in the meantime, she's doing fine - still active and eating. Thanks for your concern, everyone!

Hello, my bearded dragon had the same looking thing. I took her to a vet who surgically removed it. One month later, it was back! The area was cauterized, so I don't get it. I applied an ointment to the eyelid for 10 days and went in for the recheck. All was well for a few weeks, and then it started coming back. It looks worse than it did before. We will be returning to the vet. Wish I could get a second opinion, but exotics vets are hard to come by.

Please be aware the topic you are responding to is from Sept of 2016. If you are in need of assistance, feel free to create a new thread and we will be happy to help :D I hope your next vet visit can solve the issue, though

not the same issue but still involved very extensive surgery (Stumpy lost his eye and eventually lost his battle).

Hope both dragons mentioned here in this thread have much better outcomes and have less aggressive growths in / on their eyes.

Seems when it comes to this kind of issue , time is off the essence if you are going to have a chance of a good prognosis after.

Actually Stumpy's condition was totally different than Lilly's beardie ! There was some type of abcess/ fluid building up behind the eye. This is more like a giant wart or fungal growth. I think the vet in Stumpy's case didn't know exactly what to do with it + may have made it worse, but again, this is totally different.

But yes, this is an older thread but serious eye issues do need attention by an experienced reptile vet ASAP.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
