Coccidia

If a beardie has a coccidia, what medication is it suppose to receive? Are those medication avaliable at local pet store or only precribed by vets?

When mine had it the vet gave them Albon. Has your bearded dragon been checked for Coccidia I would not give medication unless your bearded dragon has had a fecal test. medications are very hard on their systems. but if you have had a fecal check and your Dragon has coccidia I think you can get Albon from beautifuldragons.com make sure to get a probiotic to help your dragons digestive system the albon is hard on them!.

ponazuril is being used recently and is supposed to be more effective

a vet needs to do a fecal and set the dosage

People are having success with Reptaid. It's over the counter and has been building a good following in the chameleon community.

I know this may sound wierd and wrong. But I am working in a lab and I can do a fecal check on my own beardie once I get my hands on the microscope and check for the parasite Coccidia. Of course if i find coocidia in my beardie, I will ask my colleagues to double check for me, if indeed its Coccidia. If it is, I will buy some over counter medication for it. Because recently, his poop stinks and its watery. It worries me.
