Its normal for them to have an odor to them when they are new and just starting up. Maybe burn it off in another part of the house? They sure can come in handy!

It seems really really hot. It was only on like 15 mins tops, and the damn thing nearly burned my finger off.
Its only 60watts too! :?

They get really hot and the ceramic will let off a weird smell at first. Make sure the holder you screw it in too is also ceramic. A plastic one is incorrect and will melt and burn away.

The part that you screw the CHE should be ceramic (white) and not plastic( brown or black).
A plastic fitting will start to melt, get soft and throw off a weird smell.

No..but I live in Florida. I only use it when it gets below 60 degrees here at night. I have my dragons in a back sun room which is covered and all screened in but does not have Heat or A/C.
They do just fine in total darkness at night and with temps as low as 60F.

Yes, I leave it on all night long, and I never had a problem with it. Well, on warm summer nights I turn it off, but last summer we did not have many of those...!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
