Just keep in mind.........butter worms should NOT be used as an everyday feeder. They have a hight FAT content. They are more like treats (candy) to beardies and should be feed to them on occasions

On the flip side, I have a unique beardie....he will not eat crickets at all, never has in all the time I have had him, he will not eat greens at all..viv is all the right temps, has been to 2 reptile vets, he gains weight, very active and right now he is 7 years old. All he eats is butterworms, baby food, raspberries and liquid calcium(once every 2 weeks since he turned 6) ...blood tests are great, bones are strong, etc.

This is him on his outside the viv setup:

Both vets has said he is Unique, lol.

What I do want to know is what to feed butterworms? I have heard slices of carrots, but carrots are not in our diet plan, is there anything else?

Incorrect. Butterworms are actually fantastic feeders and can be used as a staple. There fat content is lower than crickets, superworms, and even phoenix worms. Just because it has the word "butter" in the common name, does NOT mean that they are high in fat.

I am sorry............and I am not trying to argue your opinion , but , here ONLY ONE example of an article that I found that butterworms and waxforms are not good everyday feeders....http://beardeddragoncaresheet.weebly.com/feeding-and-watering.html

Obviously every one has their own opinion and everyones dragons are special in their own sense , go with what you feel is good for your dragons is my opinoin. If its butterworms everyday , so be it , if its crickets ......so be it

Not being high in fat isn't my opinion though, it's a fact. Nowhere in your article does it say that butterworms are high in fat. It even says that they are an ok semi-staple. I personally prefer not having any one bug as a staple, and mixing it up as much as possible.

That is my mistake......in the article it states that waxworms are high in fat , and , yes it doesnt say that about butter worms. I came up with that conclusion from reading not only that article , but , other articles and web sites that I have found....that states that butter worms should be given more so as treats rather than a regular feeder.

I do agree that feeding my beardies a variety rather than one bug !!!!

Alot of folks seem to use Mulberry Farms....but what about us East Coasters.

I would like to get Butterworms and Dubias but think getting them closer to the source is a better way to go.
Any recommendations for an East Coast Supplier.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
