Can butter worms be used as a staple? Also, is size a big concern like with crickets since they are soft?

You don't have to worry about the size as much as crickets. You just want to use common sense and not give a gigantic worm to a baby (butters dont get too big anyways). I dont hear a lot of ppl using them as a staple. I think silkworms or hornworms are a better choice. Plus butters can get pricey.

i agree with the top! Butters are crazy expensive!! Phoenix worms are smaller than butters and a good price too. My baby loves them!

I mix and match, here in the UK butters arnt that bad price wise, but supers are very good, so i give a few of each, plus a few locusts every day.

Also although butters are quite expensive, they last up to 4 months in the fridge and require little care, just add more oaty bedding when they need it!

Ok great thank you. I bought 400 Phoenix Worms from phoenixworms.com and the cost was $28 and that included shipping. I thought that was a pretty good deal. I tried the silkworms and although Alvin liked them, they didn't live long because I guess I was supposed to keep them out of their black stuff which is too much work for me :)

On the Superworms, I have read the size limit. I saw that Mullberry has small superworms now. Can I give that to Alvin at 11" long? It says they are 3/4"- 1" in size.

It sounds like a decent size, you should just moniter his/her bowel movements to make sure they can digest them properly, ie introduce slowly at first before using them regularly.

I give butters to m beardie as a "treat" daily. I give her 2 butters after bath in the morning, and ONLY give her if she poops during her bath. It's kinda like a potty training. Now she always poops during her bath.

Mealworms aren't very good for beardies. They have a hard chitin shell that can become caught in your beardies belly. Also they are not very nutritious. I too wish that they were better- why are the best worms sooooo expensive?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
