blowing up

what does it mean when they like inflate their body up real big? my guy just finished a shed and I've noticed him blowing up.

Could be more shed, could just be puffing for the heck of it. Darwin pops his beard out sometimes for no good reason. Sometimes for a burp. If it's not accompanied by other odd behavior it's not usually something to worry about.

Rygel has started puffing out his beard a lot recently. I wondered if it is just their way of "practicing" with it.

A lot of times it's shedding related. Sometimes I think they are just startled/surprised by it themselves. Who knows what goes on in their triangle heads sometimes.

My beardie has been known to do that sometimes too, usually in the morning after I turn on the lights. I figure he's just "flexing" -- you know, making sure all the equipment still works, just in case he needs to either intimidate someone or impress the ladies with the "big bad macho dragon" routine 8)

I do sometimes wish that I had telempathic superpowers so that I could get inside his little reptile mind for just a few moments and find out what he's thinking, feeling, etc :?

well it's not his beard he's puffing, it's his body. literally he blows himself up like a balloon lol

They will do this to make themselves bigger so they can absorb more heat. My guy does this ALL the time. The more area their body covers, the more they can absorb. I call it pancaking.

Not real sure why but mine does it a lot in the morning and when he is shedding.
