Very interesting photo. Looks for sure differently than my Taco's eyes. The white part in his eyes is very much visible.

Wow- information overload LOL! I had to read that 3 times. Thanks for the help!
Sorry, I love gentic side of things lol. It fascinates me the way it works. For instance, Zsa Zsa is incredibly orange and so is Sinatra. They borh are het for zero, so I have two very orange saturated beardies that could possibly produce solid white or grey babies. That just amazes me. 🙂

There are other variations also, when I first got Chomp her eyes looked silvery blue. They changed to look more normal as she aged though.

By the way, I’ve even seen blue eyes on the Internet, but it’s possible that this is the result of Photoshop.

Yeah, it could be. Chomps were silvery mostly, but in bright light they had a blueish tint. It disappeared by the time she was adult, kindda made me sad tbh.

I'd also say: Even if not directly manipulated, how intense likely is an effect of the light, the camera etc. Basically same with other colors. (I have also photos of my Taco where I would say: Didn't look like that in reality - in the one way (looks too bright and colorful) or the other (photo does not capture well his colors but looks too muted).)

It can definitely change the look. A trans is a good example. Even though their eyes appear solid black in the right light you can still see the individual parts of the eye, the pupils, Iris, ect. The flash on a camera can let you see them also.

The same I had seen with black eyes in birds.

And I was pretty sure, also from a scientific perspective of view: These are different tissues - thus likely have different reflectivity, absorbance ...
(How light interacts with matter and what we measure has something to do with my job ;) )

On the first pic you can see the eye is not totally black (might have to zoom in)

Yes it is. It seemed to me that the side of the eye looks dark brown, although perhaps this is only in the photo
That's exactly it, it is even a bit less obvious in the photo.
Some trans do have the solid black eyes though. I know one of Luis' brothers had them and the was quite a bit darker in red than him too. Luis does only show the brown eyes in the right light (mostly they look solid black).

I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.

Definitely going to be using this image if I ever catch a fence lizard again.
