Hi: Just wanted to chime in on this thread as I just purchased a juvenile from Ed that looked very similar in her photos. She is undoubtably a very nice translucent Italian leatherback. That said, Ed explained to me that he uses an unusual technique in photographing some of his animals (photographs them in a darkened room with flash) and I think that does have some effect on how their colors show in the photos.
In natural light, the BD I received doesn't have the dramatic lavender/blue coloring that I'd hoped for based on the photo; she is relatively normal in color with some nice but subtle green shading. I guess I should have requested a photo in natural daylight since the dramatic dark coloring was specifically what I'd been looking for. I would advise others to learn from my experience and request a naturally lit photo when purchasing by mail (from anyone) in order to avoid any misunderstandings or confusion.
