Bask BEFORE eating?

I know that you need to let your beardie bask after you eat, but somebody told me once that they let theirs bask before eating. I looked it up and couldn't find anything. Is basking before eating necessary?

Not really, my dragons have often at times eaten before the temps. were up if I needed to be out early in the day.
