every beardie i see has a long tail with a point. i have taken care of two and both of them had blunt rounded tails... why and is there a way to fix it?

A rounded or blunt tail tip is generally a sign that it was nipped off by a cage mate. Anytime you house beardies together there is a chance of tail nips and toe nips, or worse. Unfortunately, they don't grow back, so there is no way to fix it.

I agree with Dawn; probably nipped by a sibling. Depending on how stumpy it is, it may affect their balance a bit, but it's nothing to worry about.
