I wanted to introduce everyone to our new girl. She is on her way now from Denver, CO. Here's the tracking # if anyone wants to follow her flight: http://www.ups.com/WebTracking/processInputRequest?loc=en_US&Requester=NOT&tracknum=1Z6ET1020195023418&AgreeToTermsAndConditions=yes We have chosen the name Angeline (Angie for short) which means "messenger of God." I will post some new pictures tomorrow but these are the ones we have so far. She is part leatherback.

Here she is when Laszlo brought her home from the pet store on Feb 17th, 2012.

You're right Lori, they sure can be smarter than dogs & cats. In fact, Angie is very opinionated without even making a sound.

She's something else isn't she Michele? Gotta love her!

Yes Deb, always excitement in her book. She actually makes her own excitement. I try to be a step ahead of HER thinking but that isn't always easy.

It's a wonder she didn't get whiplash from the fast jerky movement she used to look up on the hill to see if the lawn tractor was still parked there. So obvious what she was thinking!

She sure is Kristine. She's only 17 months old too so can't imagine what she'll be like when she's 4 or 5 yrs old. Our other beardies that we had for many years really didn't develop their full personalities until they were years old so this should be interesting to say the least.

That's what concerns me, heck, she may be talking by the time she's 4 yrs old. Giving us a piece of her mind!

Diane, I had to read that story to my friend Shirley (the one who grew up in Binghampton, NY) about Angie's response and she got a kick out of it. She likes our girls and always wants to hold them when we are with her and take them along.

Haha! I, too shared the story with Jeremy and he found it hilarious/fascinating...as we're still (and always will be) learning. I'd love to hear what Angie would say, I won't lie...she's got a HUGE personality. As for Batty, not so much. I think I'd hear a lot of "Mom, leave me alone. I know what I'm doing. Stop moving everything. Let me be wild. Calm down. I GOT THIS." Haha!

Maybe once I can "lay off" of him a bit...I'd be more open to hearing what he might have to say ;)

Thanks for sharing the "Angie story." She never ceases to amaze us and it's so obvious what she's thinking. I remember you writing about your friend Shirley and I think I've seen pics of her holding them.

Bet it surprised Jeremy too. Just think what you've learned since you got Batman. If you ever made a list, bet you'd be VERY surprised! You're probably right about what he would be saying, in fact, I think you've quoted him quite well.

She's the one, Diane. We refer to her as Rosie and Squirt's Aunt Shirley. She has the funniest cat, whose about 15 years, I think. She got Sapphire when she was 10 years old. Sapphire always has this annoyed look on her face but always insists on getting constant attention, like most dogs do.

Oh, Diane...you know us too well! We have kept a journal and I recently purchased a new, larger, sturdy one for each reptile (three journals in all). It will be fun to look back at!

Yup. I know what that Batty thinks of me. I don't care, as long as he feels loved ;)

It's hard to shock Jeremy and that story to him was incredible. He was just like "No way...her beardie?! Not a dog? You sure?!" Haha!!!

Kristine, Angie plays games with Diane and Paul, too, my favourite was the sock game; I think, if I remember right, Paul puts his sock forward, she grabs and & then runs away, and this goes on for awhile. There's another one she plays with Diane. I've never known a beardie to play games. If Paul doesn't say goodbye when he leaves or hello when he gets home, she pouts. She is definitely a HUGE personality and I'm so glad Diane picked her for them. :love5:

Awww, Rosie & Squirt have an Aunt Shirley, that's very special. Sapphire sure has quite the personality too. Seems like she wants constant attention like some of our beardies do. :p

So Kristine, you have "beardie baby books", that's neat. Don't know how you find the time to keep up with all that writing, gotta give you credit. It will be neat to read back through them though.

I would have no trouble keeping a journal on Loki but there's no way I would be able to keep up with all of Angie's shenanigans, heck, I'd have writer's cramp.

You're right Deb, Angie loves playing games and invents her own. One day Paul was using the whisk broom & dustpan as he had spilled something on the floor. Angie was sitting close by, kept tilting her head watching & wondering what he was doing. Then she ran over, sat right in front of the dustpan waiting for him to use the whisk broom to sweep her body on it. Of course he did, then she would climb off, move further away and then run back over for him to do it again.

Our other female, Sabrina used to play games too. One of them was the "styrefoam plate race game". One day Paul had a clean foam plate sitting next to him and she climbed on. He would move the plate all around the table and in circles making noises like a car and then make a screeching sound like he was putting the brakes on. She would sit there and try to anticipate what he was gonna do next and just hung on the side of the plate, she loved it. If there was a dirty foam plate sitting in the table, we had to make sure to pick it up or she would climb right on it ready to play the race game.

Just seems like the females are more inquisitive, in our household anyway. :dontknow:

This morning we took Angie through the drive-through car wash as Paul's truck needed it. The last time we went through with her, it was different as no brushes or anything touched the vehicle so Angie was fine with that and enjoyed it. Well, now they have the brushes and wands that actually scrub the vehicle. She recognized the difference but still liked it, her eyes were huge. She would watch a brush coming and then look at Paul & me to see if we reacted but since we were calm, she was fine with it. She kept tilting her head watching the colored soap run down the windshield & side windows. Paul thought the dryer would scare her as it vibrated the whole vehicle but she didn't mind it a bit!

After that, we went to Cumberland Farm to get a cup of coffee and of course, she went too, we have taken her before. Just about everyone in there was giving her attention, stroking her beard, rubbing her back and she was the prettiest colors. When we were in line, a teenage girl spotted her and yelled out "oh my God, oh my God" and let out a shrill almost scream and went running out. Evidently she is afraid of all reptiles. Angie looked very worried & concerned, looked at me like "what's wrong with her?" Everyone else just laughed and shook their heads in disbelief.

Shortly she'll be going on a ride on the lawn tractor with her dad as it's in the 70's so have to make use of the beautiful weather.

Angie sounds like a little smarty pants. Better hope she doesn't start using that brain power for the dark side.

In my house it's the opposite: the boys are wild and my girl is a I'll stay where I am.

Angie has a pretty busy schedule! And push, posh, girls. This is the new era! We no longer have to be afraid of the "icky."

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
