I wanted to introduce everyone to our new girl. She is on her way now from Denver, CO. Here's the tracking # if anyone wants to follow her flight: http://www.ups.com/WebTracking/processInputRequest?loc=en_US&Requester=NOT&tracknum=1Z6ET1020195023418&AgreeToTermsAndConditions=yes We have chosen the name Angeline (Angie for short) which means "messenger of God." I will post some new pictures tomorrow but these are the ones we have so far. She is part leatherback.

Here she is when Laszlo brought her home from the pet store on Feb 17th, 2012.

She sure is a little smarty pants. Hope we don't ever have to worry about her going to the "dark side."

That's funny that the boys in your household are wild and your girl is content where she is. Must just be their own individual personalities.

We had never seen anyone react like that to one of beardies, couldn't believe it. When I'm holding her in public, I never push her on anyone but let them come to her if they desire to. I was nowhere near this girl, she really over reacted.

I think the worst reactions I've gotten thus far is "Are they real? Oh my god! They're real!" -.-'

Sounds like a major overreaction, but some people crave the attention that comes with it. Who knows. People are so strange.

The weird part is that it is always at the pet stores.
Like you'd be walking around with something looking like that but it wasn't real, go figure.

People can be so strange sometimes. Roger used to take Sweetie everywhere with him, even the library, but he was asked not to, as some people got offended (not the staff), so had to leave her at home. She didn't like that dad was leaving her at home & got very miffed but we didn't have a choice. My boys like to sit on the dash when I take them to the vet, well everyone but Titan, as he hates the whizzing cars. He's always been very skittish, this latest bout of meds has made him worse, poor baby. Otherwise, I've taken Rubio to Jolene's but they want to be out on the balcony, not out in the big outdoors, freaks them all out  They scaredy beardies

I'm glad Angie get out as much as she does. She's a real get out there beardie, that's for sure. You made me laugh when you explained her latest game, she's just something else & to like the car wash, too, amazing!

Deb, I'm sure Sweetie wasn't happy being left behind. :( So far, we haven't been asked not to take Angie anywhere. Wouldn't attempt Wal Mart or a grocery store although I guess some owners have. There's an area in Paul's truck on the dash that has an indentation where she likes to sit to soak up the sun. She can't figure out why there isn't one in my SUV though. Isn't that something that Titan is the only one that hates the whizzing card, they sure can all be different. Poor thing, he has gone through so much, hope he can feel all better soon.

I took 2 short videos of her riding the lawn tractor with Paul yesterday. I have to view them first to see if they came out good enough to share. I had less than 4 hrs sleep last night so don't think I'll be attempting that tonight. Have a lot on my mind and my brain just doesn't shut down for me.

Oh yeah Lori, I have heard that statement too. One man must have thought she was a stuffed animal and when she moved he jumped and then laughed, moved in to check her out better.

Sorry to hear you're not sleeping well, seems to be a "change of season" thing. I asked another member the same thing, are you still taking Melatonin? Sometimes it helps. I take an anti-anxiety pill at night, 2 mg of Ativan, it's the only way for me to sleep, otherwise I, too, get about 3-4 hrs sleep, then I can't function the next day. I have the same type of brain, it just will not turn off. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else, but it works for me.

I also take a mega dose of Vit D, per my doctor, so I take 2000 IU daily & it's really helped me a lot. I suffer from SAD, means you get depressed when the sun starts going down earlier, and it's really worked for me. Seems we're definicient, us North Americans.

Titan isn't feeling at all well, went through the same thing last month when he had to get those injections. I'm calling the vet tomorrow morning as she wants to talk to me about him. I really want to get a biopsy done on one of the lesions he has to see what it really is. It's no fun for either of us to paint his belly with Betadine every morning, takes awhile and he's not at all a happy camper. When it was just his head and sides, that wasn't too bad, but the belly is another matter. So have another vet visit on Oct 26, waiting for the antibacterial gel from Tracie to get here, hopefully by the end of the week. That helps him, too. He's down to 530g which is still a good weight for his length, so can afford to lose more, but not too much more. He won't eat at all now, so instead of trying to force feed bugs, I'm going to break out the babyfood for him, see if he'll eat that & have to pick up some Carnivore Care from the vet, too. Poor sweet Titan, that burn has really messed him up!

I was taking Melatonin every night for a while but was having intestinal issues Deb and finally narrowed it down to that which can be one of the side effects. I also tried Tylenol PM, sometimes it works but other times it doesn't. My mind just doesn't shut down. Paul's brother was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer which is very fast moving and nothing can be done so when the house is quiet and I'm trying to sleep, I can't get him out of my mind. Paul is taking it very hard of course and he is his only sibling. Paul tried to give him a pep talk tonight, hopefully it helped a little as they were laughing on the phone during the end of their conversation. It's so hard..................
I did call my MD yesterday and he did prescribe Lunesta 2 mg for me. I had taken that years ago when my mother was having 3 serious surgeries back to back and it did help. I will be getting the prescription tomorrow so hopefully that will help when I feel the need to take it.

I'm sorry to hear that Titan isn't doing well. Did you get to talk to the vet? Did you get the antibacterial gel yet? Hope that works good. Good idea feeding him baby food to help with his intake, the CC will help too, I'm sure. Poor Titan, he has gone through SO much, he needs to get healthy. Thinking about him.

Awww Diane, I'm so sorry to hear about Paul's brother, it's so hard to go through, my best wishes to both of them. I'm glad you called your MD, hopefully the prescription works, as otherwise you're just going to wear yourself out, like I did when Roger got so sick.

I didn't get to the mailbox yet, will go in a bit, I know the box got to Customs day b4 yesterday, so hoping it will be in today or tomorrow. He needs that gel as well as the Betadine. No I haven't called the vet yet, but I'm home for awhile, so will call her in the am after I get home from dropping off my car, it needs a checkup, it's been 2 years, need to make sure everything is sound.

I saw my diabetic specialist yesterday and he agreed that I looked exhausted. I just don't feel well, everything hurts, my ankle more than anything else, so I'm taking some time off work. I see my family doc (well her replacement, she's still on medical leave) next Thursday, so will go over everything with her then, will be on short term by then, but it will be another 5 weeks before I even get an appointment with the ankle specialist. I'm hoping to be back to work on Oct 15, but may take another week, not sure at this point. I'm tired of feeling exhausted, I toss and turn at night, too, but do get some sleep. So I'll see how it goes. At least I get 2 mo of short-term at 100% pay before my salary decreases.

I fed Titan roaches today, he ate 4, which is more than he's eaten for a week. He's also extremely thirsty, so is drinking like crazy every day. The vet doesn't want him in water more than 5 minutes, which isn't enough time for him to absorb water, so instead of putting him in water at all, I'm feeding him water by syringe and he's drinking loads every day, so that should help. The meds he's taking seem to dry him out a lot. Poor baby, I so agree it's time for him to get well.

Hugs to you and Paul and your families.
Take care
Deb

Sorry about your brother-in-law's bad news.
A coworker had esophageal cancer and had surgery to remove nearly all of her esophagus, then moved her stomach up to just below her throat. I'm not sure of the level of cancer that she had, but apparently surgery was an option for her. She had two different opinions and opted for Memorial Sloan-Kettering.

Thanks Deb & Gina. Dan was supposed to have the exact same thing done last Monday Gina, but when they opened him up, they found that the cancer had gotten a lot worse in just 2 short month and part of his esophagus is like a rock. The surgeon removed part of the tumor and put a stent in so that he can hopefully take in some semi-solid foods because he had lived on only liquids for 8 wks. But the surgeon is worried that his body may reject the stent or the cancer could grow over top of it so it's a waiting game. :( Since he already had chemo & radiation previously, he can't have anymore because it has affected the bones in his spine. His heart rate was irregular so that's what delayed the surgery, had to have a pace maker put in. He is only 65 yrs old and the surgeon gives him weeks to months.

Paul called tonight & talked to him, our sister-in-law said he was withdrawn and didn't want to talk to anyone but he did come to the phone for Paul. They talked for quite a while & Paul gave him a pep-talk and by the end of their conversation, they were both laughing together so I guess it helped. We're gonna go see them this weekend. They just had their 44th Anniversary and were together over 5 yrs before that so, needless to say, she is beside herself & doesn't know what she's gonna do. She doesn't have any family left either, only a stepsister.

Deb, I'm glad you saw your Diabetic specialist and have some time off, you need it. It's a shame you have to wait so long to see the ankle specialist. You sure have gone through a lot for a long time. Good that you can get full pay for 2 months.

Glad to hear that Titan ate some roaches today. You're right, the meds are very drying, poor thing. Is there any way that you could just put his vent in water without getting his stomach wet too?

He's drinking LOTS of water, more than he'd take in in the bath, so I'm good with that. I give him as much as he'll take in every day, plus acidophilus and the roaches have lots of liquid in them. So I'm going to give him them every day, too, now that I'm home, it'll be a lot easier. Everyone that's up gets fed tomorrow. Didi is out and so is Leo & Rubio is close. Gabriel is still awake every morning so far, will see what he does this winter. Geez I don't have any dragons eating on their own right now, except Rubio :banghead: don't know what happened there! Guess they all need to be retrained, I'll do that in the spring, see if I can get them to eat on their own!

I'm so sorry to hear that the surgery isn't possible for your b-I-l and I can only imagine how your s-I-l feels. I'm glad you're there for her, she's going to need emotional support, that's for sure.

We took my Subaru to the Dealership today to get serviced, inspected, etc and since the appt was at 10:30 which is Angie's most active time of the morning, we took her with us. She went over a bridge for her first time today and enjoyed looking in the water as we drove across it. When we walked into the Dealership to check-in, we hardly got in the door before people were coming over to see her & taking pictures, especially the men. All of the employees including mechanics and salesman were stopping their work to come check her out. She had a ball and every time someone came near her, her head kept going higher & higher waiting for them to stroke her beard. One of the women wanted to see her walk around so I set her down on the floor but it was ceramic, too cold for her to want to maneuver so she licked it instead and everyone laughed. We were there about 1 1/2 hrs and she was such a good girl. It was about 70 today so she even sat on the blacktop near the new vehicles. When we went to pay the bill, they gave us a $15.00 discount which they had never done before and invited her back again. :D

After we left there, we went to Lowes, she loved looking at the Christmas decorations and lit up trees. We ended up buying a tree and a light up decoration of a church with snow coming down at different speeds and it plays Christmas music. She posed in front of the decorations waiting for Paul to take a picture with his cell phone, her orange colors were glowing.

When we had to go through a toll booth, the attendant spotted her and was admiring her, he wanted to talk about how he had always wanted one with a very long line of traffic behind us.

She is now sleeping soundly, probably having happy dreams about her busy day. She'll certainly be expecting something special again tomorrow, will have to come up with something to keep her occupied.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
