about how much does tile or slate go for?

we're most likely going to get tile or slate when we upgrade our vivs. i havent been to the local hardware store lately so im just wondering.. how much sq. ft and what price have you got your tile for

I originally picked up a box of 4x4 stone tiles for about $5 a box at Home Depot.

Went back last week to get tile for the new Viv, and paid about $2 each for 12"x12" natural slate tiles.

It's been the cheapest part of building these darn vivariums!

i paid about 4 bucks for 18x18 porcelain tiles.

im not sure if there is one near you but you might try a flooring remnants store. they have all sorts of odd & ends from completed jobs. its not like they're broken or odd shaped pieces, just that there werent enough left for any real job(bathroom, kitchen).
