Agreed--Horny Toads. I've also heard them called Short Horned lizards. I don't see a great deal of resemblance, but I guess they must look a lot like Beardies to the untrained eye, because I've had dozens of people mistake my beardies for horny toads since moving to Utah. Lol!
They're native to the SW United States, and can be challenging to care for due to their unique dietary needs: They HAVE to have ants (harvester ants, I believe) in their diet. Some can survive mainly on crickets and the like, but still need ants every few weeks, where others will eat nothing but the ants. It's some chemical in the ants that is necessary to healthy digestion in a horny toad.
Definitely adorable little buggers! If it weren't for the ant thing, I'd have to get a few myself!
