What heat source should I get in NZ?

For day time you of course want to be using a regular heat bulb. If your temps are dropping below 70 at night I would advise using a ceramic heater since they provide heat without light.

You can probably pick up a PAR38 halogen flood light at Bunnings or Mitre 10. That's what I use. Animates might have a bright white basking bulb but they aren't necessary for just heat. You may need to go order a ceramic heat emitter from Animates if you wind up needing one for cold nights but that shouldn't be such an issue with summer coming on.
