Good news! Took Narley to the vet and she said his tail is looking much better - she even thinks that the scales will grow back, but there will probably be some scarring.
We're also going to try to get to the root of his diarrhea problem, so I'm going to try to keep him on veggies over the next few days and we'll do (yet another) fecal.

Pushkin is still hibernating 5 days a week. :)

Here are some photos of Narley trying to steal scraps from my Thanksgiving leftovers!

That's great news about his tail, sure sounds like the Silvadene is doing the trick.

Those pictures are adorable. Did he get a taste of anything?

Thanks guys! It really is looking so much better - I'm relieved! He has had so many health problems, mostly minor, but still.

He didn't actually get a taste of anything, sadly for him. I was watching him closely to make sure he didn't get anything that he wasn't supposed to eat! He did lick the plate a few times, though.

Thanks!!

So can we just take a moment, and recognize the HUGENESS of Pushkin? And THOSE LEGS!
But no, really, look at him in this new photo compared to him in my signature! Ridiculous! And he hasn't eaten in 3 weeks! Hibernation is doing him no favors.

Oh my gosh! I didn't realize he had grown so much! And so handsome... :love5:
What does he measure and weigh now?

Thanksss! Isn't he cute! :D His colors are really pale now that he's brumating. I'm not sure, honestly, but Narley is about 420 grams and Pushkin is MUCH bigger, so I'm thinking over 600 grams for sure! He's about 19 inches! Maybe 20. I need to measure him, it's been a while!

Another photo of Narley from today! I know that basically every photo I post of him is him sleeping or cuddling, but honestly, that is just his personality! I let him out of his cage, and he instantly looks for a place to curl up. :)
Narley still has coccidia, and now, a heavy load of pinworms. His diarrhea has never gone away, so I asked my vet to do YET ANOTHER fecal test, and it came back heavy with parasites. We're all so stumped. :( She is a fantastic vet, but she ended up referring to another local exotic specialist, and we're trying another medication for the coccidia, and then a round for the pinworms. Please cross your fingers that he'll be okay! Will know in a month.

That's horrible! It's weird that none of the previous medications have helped him any. Fingers crossed thie new medication works!

I'm so sorry to hear that Narley still has an infestation of pinworms & coccidia. Have injections been tried yet?

Hope it can be totally cleared up very soon.

Thanks guys! The poor guy has had this problem since I got him 4 months ago! :( No injections yet - this is the first time that his pinworm count has been high enough that the vet wanted to treat it. Before, we were focusing on the coccidia. Apparently there is a lot of research that suggests they do fine, may even digest better, with a small amount of pinworms. His numbers this time had skyrocketed, though.
He went through two cycles of Albon (sp?), and since that didn't work, we're trying something called Ponazuril. The vet gave me an article about some research that has been done with it on bearded dragons - it seems to be highly effective and only takes 2 doses (Narley had his second one today). So crossing my fingers! Now for these pinworms...

It's all just very frustrating. :( I haven't even decorated his tank because I don't want to worry about disinfecting tons of stuff! His tank is cleaned daily, covered in fresh paper towels, a fresh piece of fleece blanket, and his log. Everything is super clean, he's been on meds... just so frustrating! :(

The Ponazuril might work. I had the same problem with a couple of mine a few years ago, and Toltazuril worked on them, and it's evident they're from the same family. Fingers crossed!

That is really good to hear! It has just been one thing after another with this one, and I just want to see him healthy!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
