How old is your BD? Mustashio is now about 6 months and we brought him up north (2 hour drive) for the first time over Memorial Day weekend. I just brought his entire viv in the front seat of the car with the top off in case I needed to hold him. He was totally relaxed in there for most of the trip. My 10yo son took him out and held him for a short while, but otherwise he was pretty content. He is in a 30x12x12 right now and I just took the entire thing, lights and all, with us up to the cabin. I wanted him to be in familiar surroundings in case the stress of the ride got to him. He did great! We went again this past weekend and this time I held him and my son held him a bit more, but he just rode on his hammock most of the way. The vibration of the car is a little intense and I admit it probably bothered me more than him when I saw his little head vibrating all over! The people in the McDonald's drive thru were fascinated too!! Other BD owners that I asked pre-trip said that just a clear rubbermaid is great for travel too. I brought those with as well, but never used them for anything other than baths. We are "upgrading" Mustashio's viv to a bigger tank soon, but I plan on leaving the smaller one up north for short weekend trips. Hope this answers some of your questions!
Here's a picture of Mustashio's maiden voyage!!
Here is the set up once we arrived at the cabin. I used heavy gauge wire to suspend the MVB (heat and UVB) light and hooked it into the air conditioner so it would suspend at the right height to maintain correct temps.
Hope this helps!
