In a 36x24x17 is a 24" Reptisun 10.0 inch overkill? should I just stay with the 18"?

In a tank that size I'd go with a T5 bulb and fixture. The 24'' setups should do nicely if you're looking to make an upgrade from an 18'' T8.

Thanks Cooper. So what's the biggest benefit between the T8 and T5? I don't have either yet as I am still compiling all the pieces for my little guys new home. But I would like to spend the money now for the "right" items than later after trial and error. Thanks for the replies!

Ah OK, great. I'd definitely go with the T5 then. They have a much higher output than the T8 and can better replicate sunlight levels of UVB. The T8 is a much lower output and even at 8'' provides shade levels of UVB.
