I have a uvb light and an infrared red light for the basking spot, but I read somewere that for a basking spot the light shouldn't be a red light. I did buy an uva basking bulb today, which one should I use.

Red bulbs tend to be rough on their eyes, white basking bulbs help increase their activity level which in turn helps increase their appetites. You also have to make sure that you're using either an infrared temp gun or digital thermometer with long wire & probe end as those are the only 2 ways to get accurate readings.

I used the uva bulb today and I can already tell a difference, he is more active and alert. He did eat some of his greens, so I put some pellets down. Ill feed him more crickets later.

Ok well I guess I will use the red bulb for night time. Thank you.

you don't want to use the red bulb at night. They can see the red light which will disturb there sleep. You shouldn't use any light at night. If you need extra heat at night, use a Ceramic Heat Emitter (CHE).

how this helps,
Larry

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
