I use a tooth brush and a bar of oil of olay to clean glenn; to get his reptile poop stink off him every week or so followed by a good rinse is this ok?

Bearded dragons absorb everything through thier skin. That's one main reason for giving them a bath, so they can absorb water. You don't want them absorbing the soap, it can make them sick. I would deffinetly stop with the soap. Why does he smell? Does he walk in his poop? Also not a very healthy thing for him to do. Can you pick it up before he has a chance to walk in it? Luke warm water (you don't want it too hot) and a toothbrush should be fine at gettting anything off of him that may be stuck on. Maybe someone else has a suggestion on what you can use on him, I don't know. I just know that soap deffinetly isn't good for him.

Agreed, don't use the soap. The only dragon I've ever had that "stunk" was one that was kept on calci-sand. What substrate are you using? Are you not cleaning his cage every time he poops?

Does anyone have an idea on baking soda? Don't know if it is harmful or not, just an thought. It deodorizes and is natural...

well ya he does sometimes walk in his poop like his tail will drag in it lol and it reeks up his whole enclosure?? how can that not be healthy for him?

no i work full time days so if he poops during the day; usually right under the heat lamp reeks up the whole enclosure! lol bugger

i use luke warm water :)

And if they absorb water through their skin my water is treated with water softener will that effect him??? it's not drinking water....... :banghead:

Have you considered using a gentle spray from the kitchen faucet? I know my faucet has two different kinds of sprays. Regular and the kind you see in the shower (you know, the one that comes out in little streams around the nozzle head). If so, this is what works for my beardie. You don't want it blasting, however, as I'm assuming that would scare them quite a bit. If not, I'd try soaking him first to soften up whatever part of his feces is left on him, draining the water, washing him gently with the toothbrush, wash the sink out, and give him another soak again, just to make sure he's all nice and clean.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
