Upgrade to a glass aquarium

Has anyone ever added onto a glass aquarium? How did you do it?

I haven't done it, but you might be able to build a wooden collar or something similar to give it some more height.

I want to do that too! Still trying to figure out how to make it work though lol

The best idea I have right now is a free standing viv above the tank with a hole in the floor for a ramp, lighting for the bottom tank built into the floor of the top, and probably have the lower tank on a roll out shelf to access it. The top one would need the sliding glass doors for access. I'd need to sketch it out still and see how it would look and work. Maybe someone else has any ideas?

Hubby and I figured out that we can slice through the silicone displacing all four sides and the bottom. We will then build a wooden frame and replace the bottom floor with wood that has grooves for the sliding glass panels and the back and sides. The back and sides will then be silicones in place. The glass will not go up the entire 3 ft. we've decided on. The top foot of the back will be wood so that we can install proper venting. We are basically taking apart the tank and incorporating it with a wooden frame. I don't have any plans to show you as they are in hubby's head! The tank will be 5 ft long by 3 ft high by 2ft depth. This will allow it to sit comfortably under our kitchen/family room bar.
