Tengu's great adventures

Hello all!

So, now my BD is 16 months old and she is at 42cm long and 355g. We believe she is fully grown and would like some advice on feeding.

Currently she gets fresh salad every day and 20 L size crickets once a day. Should we now start decreasing the amount of crickets? She LOVES them of course and salad is like a "Do I have to eat it?"

So any advice at the age she is at etc?

Thank you in advance

So I have some good pictures in my camera, but my granddaughter broke the USB ports on my computer, not sure if I told you. So at some point, when I have $, I have to take the computer in to see if these can be straightened out & made to work. I hope that works, because it's awhile before I can afford a newer compter. At least it works.

It's great that you got an appt on Sunday and so soon. I'm really looking forward to what the vet has to say. And we'll pray it's good news.

looking forward to them!

So Tengu just did a number two! It was small, dark and not loose not hard. So obviously she wasn't impacted just no food. I gave banana this morning with syringe so..........

I had to post as a separate question about freezing or fridge and how long good for as there is no way she will do it again before Sunday. I am still not sure of your time difference. Where are you in Canada?

Such a rush to get it in a bag and fridge. It did smell actually. Usually doesnt

It won`t be fresh enough but it`s as good as it will get with her tonight. So fridge only, wrap in tin foil, then in plastic sandwich bag, but don`t be surprised if they can`t test it. may be too old but take it anyway.

Yes, she had that sitting in her so glad she got it out.

I live near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in New Westminster, south west part of BC.

Gotta go, have only 2 dragons up this morning, Gabriel and Cierra. Even Imp is still in his hide and so are Nathaniel and Castiel! So the brumation starts but won`t be full on for a bit yet.

Thank you.

This vet sounds great! They request we take photos of tank, power of lights, light on and off times, type of food, type of roach jelly, how many baths a week, time awake and asleep, weight diary, recent behavior, temps etc etc

Quite exciting really (not for princess)

She really has taken to resting her head on the onxy egg! LOL about time!

Meds time, she won't be happy

Oh and thank you for where you are. 16 hours behind!

I was wondering that, too, which explains when I get your posts.

She will do fine and he sounds a much more thorough vet. Tell him that you learned from our site, lighting, temps, etc and hope he agrees with your set up, which is top notch!

I'll be waiting to hear on Monday how it all went!

It was nice and quiet when I got home from work, but I had to take Bella for a walk. Eric worked extra time and was exhausted when I got home.

And I was tired, too, but at least I could walk. :D I hate fibromyalgia, my flares hurt alot and even though I'm on vacation, just the extra walking on Monday and picking up Safara a couple of times (she's a very heavy girl) and the extreme heat, 27C in my hallway at 11p! Put all together, I was off work part of Tues (left at 5p, couldn't sit anymore and could hardly walk) and yesterday. Oh well, hopefully I'm done. I know I won't be left alone with the kids anymore, they come Friday after Eric's work and go home on Sunday afternoon. Give Eric time to get ready for work the next day.

It's been rough on him but looks like Tara is realizing that he has to work and if he works late, so be it. Hopefully that lasts.

Yes he sounds it. A proper reptile vet so it's quite exciting to see. I am betting it is just brumation but not 100%. It would be so typical of her to do this.

This morning she was basking again eyes closed and now at front of the tank watching what I'm doing. So as I said just not commiting to anything.

Ah well at least EVERYTHING will be checked and I mean everything. He gives each patient 30 minutes as well so you can ask anything which is cool. Oh I'm getting the stink eye right now.

Last night I mushed up fresh peach, watermelon and strawberry and put it in a syringe. Did she take it like any normal lizard...... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO of course not!

Glad to hear about Eric. It must be so difficult with kids involved but great he's strong and getting out of his old ways.

Need to shoot off now hut let you know as soon as I know

Well, Sunday is almost here. Tell him you correspond with a dragon rescuer in Vancouver, BC, Canada :D

I hope all goes well with Tengu, will be checking to see how it goes.

Gabriel seems to be happy, but his belly is getting bigger and bigger and I'm getting worried. I'm willing to give him a couple more weeks but we're seeing the vet on Sept 3, my vet's partner, and see what's going on with him. I know I'm going to lose him soon, he definitely doesn't have much time left, so I'm trying to snuggle with him every day and leave him in the sunshine/shade for a few hours if I can. I was off today because of the fibro flare again, it came back. What helped was putting ice along that whole back parr at the waist, that helped a bit, but stayed home today, wasn't walking very well this am. It still hurts but like Tuesday, not as much. At least I'm off until Tuesday, that is if the vacation day I requested would be approved. I'll find out a bit later, I'll call my boss.

I know I'm in trouble for missing 3 days this week, so it's time to go to a rhematologist to get tested again, as this flare was much worse than the last one. So see my doc on Aug 29 and will see if one can't be found near where I live.

I'm tired of coming up with all these odd diseases, wish they'd all go away...it's the heat talking     I don't feel this way when it's cooler.

Nathaniel and Castiel are both still sleeping. Cierra is still awake and so is Imp, I'll see if he gets up late again like yesterday morning. Gabriel isn't sleeping early during the day anymore. Now he has a blanket to sit on by the front of his tank, so he can see bits of what's going on.

And Bella is doing well, she just finished her last antibiotic from having that tooth pulled and the left side of her face had to be stitched and cleaned from a dog bite 2 months ago. To show you how they didn't care for her as they didn't have the $. So glad she's here, I had more than enough on my VISA to pay for her surgery, so all is good. She's enjoying living here now, she gets regular walks from me and Eric and she's met alot of dogs from this complex. There are tons of dogs, a few cats and my dragons. She has her bed in my bedroom, plus she sleeps with me, but she spends the evening with Daddy 'til he goes to sleep, then she comes and sleep with me. More warmth but not in a heat wave

So..............

Most probably the end of Tengu's great adventures :(

The vet checked everything, sure she was a little overweight and fatty liver but it wasn't a problem. Her tank and food etc was no problem but her kidneys are failing big time.

There is no reason for it, she just naturally has weak kidneys from birth and now it has come to a peak. It was very quick to happen and we got her to him in good time but she has to stay there a week and they said she will most probably die but they will do all they can.

Right now I cant type, I cant think. I just want to cry so please excuse me

Thank you

I'm so sorry to hear about Tengu, I can only imagine how you feel. How could you know that her kidneys were failing? My heart is breaking reading this. I'm here if you need to talk, anytime.
I hope they can figure something out for her. :(

cant find the reply button which is odd so had to use quote

So yes, half to find out what was actually wrong. The vet cheeked my report of tank and lifts food etc and he was very happy with it. He said I have donw everything the best I could and her kidneys are just weak. This is why she has gained weight because she can't pee or poop. I feel so bad for giving her water and juice wtc when she couldn't get rid of it :(

Fatty liver wasn't even an issue so I'm a little mad at first vet but he's not a specialist so just forget him.

So now Tengu is at hospital having daily injections to help her kidneys and if IF she survives she will be on meds for the rest of her life which is fine. I miss her so much. I had to cover her tank as it makes me cry when I look at it and not see my lovely M, happy yellow girl watching me. I feel lost without her :,,,,,(

Going to call them in a bit and see how she is today. Of course a huge typhoon has hit here today which is super rare.

Kidneys.......... Wow just came out of nowhere. I'm kicking myself for wasting 10 days by going to first vet. Should of found specialist straight away :(

You had no way of knowing her kidneys were weak. I'd it was preexisting then it wouldn't have shown up until now.

Just lovd her and appreciate the time you have. That's all you can do now.

I know how you feel, it's always easy to look backwards and get angry at yourself because I've done it so many times. And I know how much you miss her, you two are so very close.

You did go to the right vet and they're doing all they can to help her survive. She'll be special needs but you'll be there to make sure she's doing what needs to be done to keep her with you. Losing a dragon means you lose a part of yourself but your memories eventually fill the void a bit. They become part of your heart forever. I'm praying that never happens, at least not for a long time and it sounds as if you got her to the expert vet just in time. I know they will do everything for her.

Let me know what the vet says when you talk to him. Just know that I'm always here and have been through this a few times. My heart goes out to you and I'll worry along with you, too.

she will die today or tomorrow. I will collect her so she can die in my arms. Now is just her heart moving and that's it.

Too sad
