This question is about superworms. Does anyone cut the heads off of the superworms before they feed them to their beardie? I was told to so this and I was wondering if its necessary.
Hello,
No its not necessary. I do not do it myself but have had heard of some people doing it. I believe its because of the myth that they can eat through the stomach of a beardie. This has been proven wrong though. I will let someone with more knowledge step in but as far as cutting heads off its not necessary.
Thanks so much for your response. I'm not surprised that Petsmart gave me the wrong info. In fact, it's not the first time. I was so worried one time when my Lola ate one with the head on it. Lol
How old exactly is your beardie?
Superworms are a pretty good staple feeder but only for adults. Some do cut the heads off initially when they first introduce them for the first time but that is more out of fear of inabilty to digest then anything else.I have never done this with any of my beardies.I do recommend you start intrducing them slowly to give his digestive system time to become used to them, possibly one or two a day mixed with his normal feeders and the slowly increase it as he becomes used to them.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
