Stitch and Sydney- New pics pg 22!!

I rescued a beardie yesterday, and am looking for a little support group overall for the most part, and any advice you have to give... and hopefully to watch this little one progress from pitaful to fat and sassy over the next months!!! For some quick background info...I'm a long time lurker of several bearded dragon forums over the past 7 years, and I've had 2 beardies over the past 6.5 years, but have always been a 1 beardie household (until today). My first I had for 5 years, before he passed from a long term illness, and then I've had a new baby for just over a year.
This one ended up with me yesterday. I'm not entirely sure of all the details, but he ended up with a wildlife rehabber about 3 weeks ago, who has to go through major surgery and who has been trying to get a better home for him since then. He was supposedly bitten by another bearded dragon on the tail base before going to the rehabber, but in my opinion it looks more like a dog bite. He's skinny, and the saddest part is apparently he put on "good weight" over the past 3 weeks - his little hip bones are all sticking out :( Here is a first picture, but I"m not sure how well the skinniness will come through

7544944_photobucket_18793_.jpg

At the vet's office we did a full workup - got that scab off and the skin and area cleaned up, bloodwork, xrays, took a biopsy of the wound to make sure the yellow coloration around it isn't yellow fungus , and got him started on antibiotics and pain meds. He never would poo at the office, so no sample to test there (stinker). Here is a pic afterwards, in the 2nd bath of the day

Things look better at that point, and he's lightened up a little bit at least.
I've got lights, etc on order for him, but for now, my tortoise was nice enough to share her UVB light , and we'll shift some lights around to get things up to temp, and then hopefully my next week all my stuff will be in and he'll be set up.
As I mentioned earlier support and advice are welcomed! Luckily my significant other, Matt, loves the beardies too, but doesn't quite understand :) I know many of you guys will !!! I've already become alarmingly attached to this dude, and have named him Stitch. This is the fastest I've named something in a long time, so hopefully that's not a jinx, but will give him something to aspire too. Figured the name worked...he's a rescue, but still a bit fiesty, and maybe he'll aspire to some mischievousness over time :D
When I got him home tonight and put him in the 3rd bath of the day (where i finally got poo :blob5: ) he lightened up the most I'd seen him, so I'm hoping he knows that he's HOME... and that's my anthropomorphizing for the day... (But check out the pics?? What do yall think ?????)
7544944_photobucket_18790_.jpg

and then snuggling in a towel - he's not sure quite what to make of this I think, but is still snuggled in the towel propped on my leg as I type....

I'll have questions and concerns soon I'm sure, but I wanted to introduce Stitch !!

He's loved them almost from day one after I rescued him ! On the 2nd or 3rd night he buried himself in a blanket to put himself to bed :) I figured he was a blanket dragon at that point ! :p He was ready to be spoiled :) It was pretty funny how right after I put that little blue blanket in this afternoon he ran right over and plopped on it and looked rather proud of himself

Hey Carrie,
How's it going? Played catch-up again on your thread, love the pics of Stitch and sprinkles..........I can relate with passing on the beardie "fever"........I did the same with 2 co-workers as well, it's great to help interested folks get new babies. The little one you showed is precious, huh? Glad to know that your family is well!!

Glad you enjoyed the pictures :) it is fun to pass on the beardie fever. My coworker that has the cutey little baby has a very receptive audience in me for talking about how cute and amazing her little dragon is  It's fun to see her get so excited about him eating crickets and growing :) She's had him right at a month now and he's grown from like 20 grams to 60 and she saw a picture of him from the first day and was like NO WAY that's my dragon.. he was so little *laughing* It's amazing how fast they grown.... :)
I hope you are doing well ! We are dealing with the aftermath's of hurricane Irene and now tropical storm Lee. Luckily in the hurricane we were far enough west to just have a few limbs down, but my parents live about an hour from the coast and lost 5 trees from Irene. Thank goodness none hit their house. We went down there a couple day to help cut up and clean up all the trees. And then this morning we had tornado warnings from the stupid tropical storm remnants at our house. But thankfully no issues other than hard rain this morning. Crazy weather !

WOW you read through it all ! Impressive :) That must taken a little while :p Glad you enjoyed all the pictures and seeing Stitch's progress! I can't believe I've had him almost an whole year now. Got him the first of October....
He's still thinner than I'd like, but he's a much healthier weight and a much healthier dragon !! he's just a lean, mean, head bobbin' machine. I think he runs around too much to put much weight on *laughing*
He was out over the weekend running around and then all of a sudden he HAULED boogie across the house to head bob ..... the wall.... I guess that wall needed to be put in his place. Maybe it taunted him from across the house? He's a funny dragon :)

Well I have a few new pictures to post for everyone !
Here are a couple of Stitch... He's so spry that he can leap from the floor onto the top of his cave platform.... So this is a picture after he did that and then he just sat there forever with half his body hanging off.. dork\
Oh yea I'm an athlete... be jealous!
photobucket-3827-1316268946135.jpg

Check out my sexy dangling leg !
photobucket-1117-1316268984754.jpg

What ? Why are you taking all these pictures of me ?
photobucket-911-1316269020877.jpg

And then this is him in his hammock going to sleep one night...lights were out so they aren't the best quality.

photobucket-3106-1316269102278.jpg

AND now a couple of Sydney. I got her a cute new fabric hammock that she loves now :) This was a few nights ago when I first got it
To show the pattern
photobucket-3063-1316614591481.jpg

Testing it out
photobucket-3909-1316617063210.jpg

I approve !
photobucket-3914-1316617235269.jpg

She's gotten good at splatting in it and basking away. Of course it also completely blocks the light so it's a good place to sleep under when she's tired...and as she's starting to slow down and brumate, that's a great thing for her !!

In other exciting news it's been ALMOST a year since I rescued Stitch - I rescued him on Oct 4th :) I'll try to take some fun pictures and post them to celebrate his adoption day on the 4th or 5th :)

Hi Carrie,
Great new pics, I can't believe you've had Stitch almost a year now, and the pic of his leg dangling really shows how nice his tail wound healed, remember how bad it was? You have done such a great job rehab'ing him back to tip top shape,.......now he thinks he's "The king of the world."

HAPPY ADOPTION DAY STITCH !!!!

Stitch was rescued a year ago yesterday and came home with me for the first time a year ago today. He was a sad, skinny, wounded dragon at that time and seemed nervous but thankful. He adjusted pretty fast and started feeling better and eating more and more and more :) His wounds healed, medications were taken, and snuggles abounded. He was always feisty and ready to explore and "dominate" his surroundings
Matt and I have enjoyed having him in our lives the past year and hope for many more!! Now on to the fun he had today...
OUTSIDE TIME !

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
