Stitch and Sydney- New pics pg 22!!

I rescued a beardie yesterday, and am looking for a little support group overall for the most part, and any advice you have to give... and hopefully to watch this little one progress from pitaful to fat and sassy over the next months!!! For some quick background info...I'm a long time lurker of several bearded dragon forums over the past 7 years, and I've had 2 beardies over the past 6.5 years, but have always been a 1 beardie household (until today). My first I had for 5 years, before he passed from a long term illness, and then I've had a new baby for just over a year.
This one ended up with me yesterday. I'm not entirely sure of all the details, but he ended up with a wildlife rehabber about 3 weeks ago, who has to go through major surgery and who has been trying to get a better home for him since then. He was supposedly bitten by another bearded dragon on the tail base before going to the rehabber, but in my opinion it looks more like a dog bite. He's skinny, and the saddest part is apparently he put on "good weight" over the past 3 weeks - his little hip bones are all sticking out :( Here is a first picture, but I"m not sure how well the skinniness will come through

At the vet's office we did a full workup - got that scab off and the skin and area cleaned up, bloodwork, xrays, took a biopsy of the wound to make sure the yellow coloration around it isn't yellow fungus , and got him started on antibiotics and pain meds. He never would poo at the office, so no sample to test there (stinker). Here is a pic afterwards, in the 2nd bath of the day

Things look better at that point, and he's lightened up a little bit at least.
I've got lights, etc on order for him, but for now, my tortoise was nice enough to share her UVB light , and we'll shift some lights around to get things up to temp, and then hopefully my next week all my stuff will be in and he'll be set up.
As I mentioned earlier support and advice are welcomed! Luckily my significant other, Matt, loves the beardies too, but doesn't quite understand :) I know many of you guys will !!! I've already become alarmingly attached to this dude, and have named him Stitch. This is the fastest I've named something in a long time, so hopefully that's not a jinx, but will give him something to aspire too. Figured the name worked...he's a rescue, but still a bit fiesty, and maybe he'll aspire to some mischievousness over time :D
When I got him home tonight and put him in the 3rd bath of the day (where i finally got poo :blob5: ) he lightened up the most I'd seen him, so I'm hoping he knows that he's HOME... and that's my anthropomorphizing for the day... (But check out the pics?? What do yall think ?????)
7544944_photobucket_18790_.jpg

and then snuggling in a towel - he's not sure quite what to make of this I think, but is still snuggled in the towel propped on my leg as I type....

I'll have questions and concerns soon I'm sure, but I wanted to introduce Stitch !!

I LOVE all the new pics, they are all wonderful! I love the one of Sydney hanging on for dear life, hehe, and those two where cat bows to Sydney. :love5:
Aww, my boy Stitch has completed his shed, his tail looks great now. :love5:
I really enjoyed all the pics!
Ohh, were those slugs that Sydney layed? Hope her tiny hands are a bit better now, poor baby :(

those were slugs that Sydney laid - She has not had the opportunity to have fertile eggs :) despite cajoling, sexy looks, head bobs, handsome beards, and long lingering stares... lol Her hands are much better now thankfully! glad you liked the pics and got to see handsome Stitch :)

The pic of Sydney hanging from the hammock looks like she's just trying to get a little burn going for herself  everyone needs a little exercise once in a while lol
She was so silly hanging off the hammock like that :) Working some biceps and triceps :) hehe

Stitch is adorable. The name reminds me of Lilo and Stitch. Good job, and good luck =)

-Oralie

Thanks Oralie ! Stitch's character from the movie is what helped inspire me to name him that - he seemed mischievous and silly even when I first got him and he wasn't feeling very well.. he's certainly lived up to his name and keeps us " in stitches" by making us laugh at a lot at home :) Plus it fit because I seem to have lots of animals with names that start with " S "... of my four current animals I have Stitch, Sydney, Sprinkles, and Jasper *laughing*

Here a few new pics for all the Stitch lovers out there...
In the bath this afternoon.. I'm not sure if he's stretching or just showing off both his sexy legs... It's like a head to tail split... hmmm...

And then after the bath he got to frolick around the house... he just wanted to look out the front door...

Sydney is currently on the screened in porch enjoying the 90 + temps and having a great time looking at everything :)

Poor Sydney is trying to lay again ....But at least I"m home with her this time !
I heard her scratching, scratching in her tank and stuck in her in the lay box again ( previously she'd only tried to leap out of it) and within a couple of minutes she started digging.... I was wondering if she was going to lay again as she's not been eating nearly as well the last couple days and didn't want any just delivered superworms yesterday....
She's been digging off and on for about the past 20, 30 minutes... I'm trying to help her out by helping make the hole she seems determined to make, but it's not quite right yet.... hopefully soon... Poor girl.. all this work for infertile eggs....
Here are a couple of pics...; I'm sitting beside her on the floor ... lol

Oh my word Carrie, LOOK AT ALL THOSE EGGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Poor baby, so tired now, a well deserved rest is at hand! And I had quite a giggle at the end to see the pic of Stitch all sacked out, like he did all the work, that's not a typical trait of the male is it?

Sydney is snuggled up on me under a blanket right ... she's totally passed out.
I couldn't believe how many she laid either ! 29 ! EEK
I was pretty surprised when I put her in the lay box and she started digging.. .I had put her in and walked a way for a minute and within a couple minutes kept hearing scritch scritch.. and walked over and peered in and she had already dug to the bottom of the box ! lol I figured I knew what was going on then :) So I sat by her and tried to help out with the digging process... Matt was SHOCKED  at how many eggs she had.. his guess was she'd have eight... not quite... Matt asked Where did she keep them all !?

But afterward she got a bath and I got her some liquid calcium and some critical care/ carnivore care mixture.. She seemed happy with this and didn't want any superworms afterwards. After she was done with laying she whipped around and was trying to eat the dirt and the eggs.. so I'm guessing she was hungry ! Poor babe... least she's sleeping and snuggled in now :) It was a long evening !

Well i'm glad you found us again :) I get unsubscribed sometimes too!

Sydney seems to be feeling well today and while she was not interested in her salad today, she destroyed some insects... ate a BUNCH of superworms and and a couple hornworms (they weren't full grown though). So hopefully she'll put some weight back on soon :)

Sydney is craaaving some protein! Clovis is jealous. I am a mean momma and have not given him bugs for a week in hopes that he will eat his salad.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
