Hello everyone... My friend sent this to me and asked if I had any advice about this or what it is and I don't, so I figured I'd ask here about it. I don't know any info other than this here (it's my friend's friend). Any thoughts?
Can you get your friend to post some good pics on here, we'll be more likely to help if the pics are bigger. I had to zoom in which distorted everything. Does she mean the greyish spot under the beard or the reddish spot inside the mouth. Sorry I couldn't make it out too well. But if your friend joins here + posts some bigger pics it will show much better.
In the meantime tell her to get some raw unpasteurized honey. It's great as a natural antimicrobial on any type of wound. But be sure to tell her to never leave any loose insects in the tank [ esp. crickets ] and to check for them hiding in the cracks. They can go after any wounded areas on the lizard.
I can see a little redness, doesn't look serious but I can only guess as to the cause. It may be that the dragon has bitten on something hard so now if the owner is sort of force feeding her it can aggravate the sore. If they can get to another more qualified vet that might shed some light on the problem. Three weeks on antibiotics can be really harmful to a dragon though and can take the appetite away . I'd not use any more antibiotics for a while for sure. See if the owner can get some other soft body insects like silkworms or hornworms that are loved by most dragons.
