So I would like to introduce my new baby beardie, Shiro (it means white in Japanese) becuase he or she is a white hypo beardie.

Really happy to have him/her and I hope questions and answers on this post will help other people that have a baby beardie.

To kick it off she/he is stunning and very cheeky already! Took dubia from my hand without blinking and jumped onto her hammock and is happily watching her new tank.

So far so good and vet check next week and every six months from there on.

My beautiful girl Tengu will be sadly missed but she taught me a lot and she will always be in my heart and memories, RIP Tengu chan we love you so much.

Now that is good news. I wasn't able to get your package in the mail, have to wait until this Friday when I get paid, then it will start it's journey to you!

Wow, I can't get over the amount of bugs she's eating now & so glad she's so fast, takes health to be fast like that. I know she enjoys surprising you, I can tell. They are fascinating, with definite personalities :D

Ah she's super fast!!!!!!

Very interested and morning time is just funny!!! A hahahahaha. This morning again 11 bugs and this afternoon probably the same as well as this evening. She seems quicker to eat bugs now. Had to order 200 crickets. I hate them!!! They die easily and just a pain!!

So yeh she's really coming along. I will weigh her in a week.

Thank you for posting the mix on Friday :)

Sure will be!

This afternoon she happily took another 13 bugs so its 25 today and another feeding a but later on.

I think she must feel more comfortable now so she is eating better.

I just made up a 5 star hotel for the crickets!!!! plastic square wrapped in a wash bag with three small bowls inside as well as pet sheets to absorb their business. The bowls have jelly in, crushed up dragon pellets, and the other has water in with a cloth sticking out the top so they can suck the water off it instead of drowning! It also has 6 potter cups in their for living as such.

I was never going to bother breading dubia or cricket hotels but when you understand how much it all costs from pet shop and even online you soon get into the breeding! I got a big bag of jelly for the dubia about two months ago and the sales person was shocked and said how many bugs do you have?  I explained its for breeding them. It is quite amazing how quickly they have babies! They dont seem to stop having them!!! I am so glad I was doing that before the passing of Tengu. It has come in so handy for Shiro.

  I looked up and her little cute face is watching me!

Sassy girl hates being grabbed in tank!!!! Little ninja had a wide open mouth LOL got her eventually and gave her a bath. Makes me laugh seeing her trying to get out of bath.

Weighed her and she is 10g today :)

Oh yes I can see she's bigger already.

BAD GIRL this morning though!! Gave her drops of water and she's pissed and hiding from me and won't eat her morning bugs. How stubborn is that!!!!!! Or maybe because it's not crickets this morning??

So yeh 5 star hotel waiting for 200 crickets. Ah now she's top of the leaves sulking!

So left the bugs in glass bowl for her because I have to go out this morning. I can honestly say she will probably wait until I'm back to feed her this afternoon.

How's Imp and Gabriel doing?

Don't offer her the syringe anymore, she's getting scared of it, sounds like. Just stick to baths and when it comes time to add the mix to her, she'll be older and it will go find for that. For water, just baths for now. Until she's a few weeks older.

Gabriel keeps climbing onto the ramp and sitting there, like a doggie that did a good trick, so funny. And he's not jumped down before I moved him, so that's good. He's getting rounder, though, but not too much. So day by day. He really likes the serrepeptase, he perks up when he first gets it. Then he eats the mix with tumeric (I feed it by syringe, the way that I have so it goes down the right pipe.

Imp is older, so he's quieter. He will sit on that ramp until doomsday, I figure. I don't even put the blue partition up to the dining room, as he just doesn't move off the ramp, he'll change position, watch whatever cartoons take his fancy, but otherwise he just blisses out under the UVB and likes the old towel I put down on the concrete blocks to make a pad. I wish I could show you what's left of it, it's still very good and they have to exercise to get up there.

The Eric situation is Tara is ill and can't handle the kids, so her mom and I are babysitting this week and next week but I can't do it on my own and either can Heather, so Eric has to come up with a solution really quickly. He has to still work every day, as it's his income that's necessary for the kids. As for Tara, just food. She has to decide what she wants in life. I shouldn't go on, but it's been a shock and I'm just lucky that I'm off work for a bit more.

Problem is she's scared of everything!

Try and get get her for a bath is well a nightmare as she LEGS it and it really stresses her out I can tell but syringe is okay she doesn't hiss or run from it anymore so I believe it's okay, she just doesn't like drinking.

She also hisses at salad!!! Th freaks me out because at the pet shop she loved it and it's the same veg.

I guess it's all just still new to her so I will leave her alone and just feed her and water her and let her settle down

Situation with kids sounds a nightmare. If I was Eric Is tell Tara to do one but that's just me ahahahhaha I was in the same situation except kids I told you so I do know how it must be. Hard for you I feel.

Imp is lazy as hahahahahahahhaha

New approach!

So today I got her twine so she can climb about its twisted all over the rank so she can run on it and sleep on it etc etc. She of course is looking at it like it will eat her so......

So anyway new approach is to feed her in the morning, afternoon and evening and just put my hand close to her and if she opens up I keep it there until she closes her mouth and then touch under her chin and slowly back away. I do it five times a day and now after leaving my hand there I use my other hand to VERY gently and slowly stroke her head and back. She closes her eyes but stays there which is GREAT. So I will continue this. Water i will give drops and if she doesn't drink she will just have to have a bath more than normal

Slow process but its working and today she had 35 bugs

I also cleaned out the dubia bins and made one big one with a correct ratio of female to male and it was a nightmare to do!!!!!!!!!! They are all being gut fed jelly, veg, water as well as the crickets so I know Shiro is getting what she needs one way or the other!! I now have 20 spare male dubia all looking for females so they are in a separate box until I get females tomorrow. I don't really want to leave them together even just for 12 hours but no choice so if some die then so be it.

So all is good here. Hope things are okay there

Talk soon

So today was interesting. Firstly she ate 37 bugs and had a bath today :) she was running up my arm to get away from it LOL

But putting my hand in slowly and approaching her until she closes her mouth works well. Now she doesn't really open it unless I move fast.

I then come behind her and stroke her head. She closes her eyes. Today I put my finger by her chest and waited and then pushed a little and waited and the she was okay to come onto my hand.

Getting there slowly but surely. She does seem to think my finger is food!!! Today she went for it and I thought she was trying to bite but she was trying to eat it like when their tounge comes out. Interesting it was. I should let her try and eat my finger instead of moving so she understands it's not food but the shock of her speed always makes me pull away. I can't help it LOL she's so fast!!!!!

Anyway I will weigh her next week. Hopefully she's gaining. 10 crickets died which as you said is normal but so crazy aren't they?!!

Hope all is well

Morning

So Shiro had 25 bugs this morning and having her first shed :) it's so cute!!!!!!!

She is very different lately. She is coming to the glass and looking around more. In the morning she is lounging on her rock instead of leaves and not opening mouth at all when I put my finger under her chin. Big improvements all round. Looking forward to weighing her at the end of this week.

I'm not sure why but notifications stopped coming to my email when you posted, weird.

So just got all caught up.

The situation with Tara has improved and she's had the kids since last night, so we'll see how that goes. Daily in this situation. Eric living at home is still fine. The kids were a bit better behaved this past weekend, but I'd had them on my own for Thursday, Friday, hope never to do that again. Had to take pain killers at night.

So we'll see how it goes.

I'm so very glad she's eating more and more. And getting used to you to the point of being comfortable with your hand. And taking baths, very important and they get used to the water.

I'll be mailing the package to you tomorrow, have a few things to mail. Time gets away from me when the kids are here and I couldn't even hardly move yesterday and today. So now feel better after that rest. Hip still sore, waiting for tests.

Gabriel walked from one end of the living room to the other, I was so pleased to see him do that. I let Gabriel be out on the ramp later than usual and so put Imp into his tank, he went into his hide and went to sleep at 14:00! He wants to brumate but I still think he's too young. I'll leave him in his hide to see what he wants to do. Before he sleeps, though, he has to digest what he ate last 2 days, then will keep an eye on his weight. He loses quickly.

Bella, Eric's dog and I enjoy each others company, she's a joy to have in the house and forces me outside to walk her. Which is good for me.

That is weird! I was worrying

Glad to hear things have improved on the Tara front!

ahhhhhhhhh nice about Gabriel having a walk :D :D and Imp is the laziest dragon out there!  brumation but to young right? What age do they usually do it? Around 2?

Well, bug girl here  has been all fun! Really much happier and comfortable in her tank now. Watching everything and not legging it or hissing. Every morning she is on her basking rock warming up and gets to the hammock for feeding LOL Bugs have been chowing down leaves, jelly and those dried food pellets for beardies and drinking water so i know shes getting everything. My charts are great because everything is recorded everyday so in January when she has her 6 month check it will be so easy for the vet to know everything about her.

weight is 11g/12g now and 16cm

Chowing down the bugs, not interested in salad yet but it is always there and bugs have salad in them. She just had a bath and getting better and sooooooooooooo much better with me and my hand now. She does a little run but soon just relaxes into my hand knowing I am not going to eat her. It is a lovely thing I must admit. This early age is hard work but like you said the bond will be really strong.

Time to raid the roaches to see if any babies are around. Like Imp she has eaten them all!!! Just glad I started doing that when Tengu was around. Tengu's shrine is very well taken care of. Fresh flowers every 3-4 days and fresh water every 2 days and prayed to every morning and night. It is a very big thing here to respect the animals after life as you would a human. It is literally the same process.

Hope all is well and thank you for posting the package! I hope she takes to it like Imp did. I will send photos of the process. Should make you laugh

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
