For my babies I usually just dust all of them but I dunno how others feel on that. You can try just dusting like half or 3/4ths to be safe. Does your calcium powder say it has Vit. D3 in it?

something else to look into....
The UVB Tube should face the basking area. Also, it should be very close to it too. Some say 6"-8" away, when using the reptisun 10.0
Along with a temp gun, you should really invest in a Solarmeter (UVB 6.2 or UVI 6.5 meter designed specifically for reptiles).

Check out the enclosure area to see what others are doing.

Water based, painted and/or sealed wood is fine.

There is a TON more to add...but I would highly recommend browsing these forums and reading/learning as much as possible. If you have any direct questions, ask away...

Honestly I wouldn't say it is a necessity to have a meter to read uvb ray output, just as long as you replace the bulbs when they are needed to be replaced it should be fine.

I think it should be required to own one.

We all have our own opinions on the subject...which is fine.

i purchased a new temp gun (boss apparently nabbed the one at the office before i even got to it)
and some rep-cal..

now about disinfection... i have a steam cleaner.. and im using shelf-liner right now as her substrate..

i clean it out and it still reeks of her urine.. but my question is.. i have a steam cleaner and i know they disinfect...

would it be safe to use the steam cleaner to clean the substrate, bowl, logs, etc. (everything pretty much)..

or should i still play around with potentially dangerous chemicals to make a cleaning/disinfection mix of my own?

Yes you can use steam to clean all that stuff, just make sure she isn't around the steam and it cools off before you introduce it back into her tank.

Great job on the temp gun! did you check your basking temp? hot side? cool side? What are they?
That calcium powder is very god too. It should say vit D3 on the front of the container does it?

I paid $17 each at my local pet store!!

Dont worry it will last for some time. You just need a little pinch to coat all your feeders your feeding.

new photos of her.. and im a little worried...

heres a collection of photos.. at the end theres some shots of worms :X i walked out to go to the gym.. and i came back to poop and a mess of worm bits.. im assuming she vomited them up.. im worried about what made her vomit.. or whats going on...

right now i made her a salad consisting of (squash, carrots, mustard greens, papaya) hoping shell eat that.. im afraid to toss and worms or crickets in there ..
026.JPG
(different shots of the new light positioning [earlier in the post i was told to bring the uvb closer)...

(our drive to tampa)
033.JPG
(she got her color back)
034.JPG
(vomitted worms i think?)
035.JPG
(on her wood too)
036.JPG
(regular poo, for once its mostly white.. is that normal?)

and the recorded temps.. under the basking lamp (99.5 on wood cave 51% humidity, up to 112.5F 49% humidity on the log [highest point, shes barely there] {but i think it just keeps increasing because the sensor is black and attracts heat?})

on the cooler end (food, water side of photo) [78.3 (i placed the sensor between the food bowl.. its .3 degrees over my room temp.. ) 50% humidity] i think the low end should be a bit higher? should i angle my heatbulb so that it almost hits the other end just a bit to warm it up some?

Thanks as always for your advice and opinions..

And im still really worried... she hasnt eaten since the vomiting session (about 4 hours ago)

Hmm that is strange. How much worms did you feed her? Try giving her only crickets if you have some.

Do you have a waterbowl in your tank? What is causing the humidity to be so high, it should be lower than 50.
She might need a more sturdy basking log to get up to where the temps are in the 105 degree range. She probably isn't going high on it because it looks like if she does it will fall over. it would be good to find something that can support her whole belly while she is basking.

Tell us how things progress.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
