Sarth, Daeds, & Starling **5/28 First Camping Trip Pics!**

I figured I would post some pics of Sarth...even though he hasn't been eating very well the past month he still finds every opportunity to be cute! I think I might just keep adding pics to this thread along with my blog, we will see!

I thought this was adorable...he was kind of lounging against the glass, looking at me like "what?!"

Him still being really mad from the vet's visit the night before. He looked so hilarious, all puffed up with the black beard. I started petting him and he deflated while managing to look confused.

Oh yes I could definitely sell you some dubia. When his appetite came back in June he wiped out all my mid sized nymphs, but now that he's, shall we say "unenthused" by them I have a tone of adults and subs, just let me know what you want Sarth REALLY liked the adult males, he would eat 2-3 a day until I got him back into the reptiworms.

I'm almost hoping the government doesn't open until after repticon, I feel like I would much rather go to that than go camping up north, LOL :roll: I like to frequently taunt my husband "you say I can't have any more dragons, but what would you do if I came home with one anyway?

So my package of horn and wax worms arrived today. I was sad to find the the horns are TINY!! Little itty bitties! So I guess I will have to let those go for a couple days. So in the meantime I cracked open the cup of wax worms...

The first one I dropped in front of Sarth didn't seem to catch his interest much, so after poking it a couple times he decided to eat it. So I gave him another and he immediately gobbled it up. I may have fed him about 10 wax worms :shock: I know they are unhealthy I just was fascinated watching him eat them LOL. I guess he won't get anymore of those until next week.

At least I know what to give him next time he goes on a hunger strike.

Oh, and in response to your post before this one... (Sorry, I read it and then I forgot to come back!)

I wanted to try to start a very small colony with out my mom noticing LOL (My roaches might just "happen" to have babies while I'm waiting to feed them off ) so maybe a mix of adults, and larger nymphs? IDK, I've never had roaches before so I don't know what a reasonable amount would be to start with!

Hehe, that's how I got my first beardie, and my giant African millipede. I just kind of acquired them when my mom wasn't there! :lol:

I started my B. dubia roach colony with only 16females and 4 males, but I didn't feed them to my babies for first 2-3 months. And now I have enough for my tarantulas and for Ziggy. So if you can wait with feeding them off 30 roaches would be enough (most of them should be females), but if you want to start feeding them off immediately you'll need at least 100.

I'll have to clean my roach bin this weekend and see what my male:female ratio is. I'm sure I could swing something like what Ziggy started his with plus nymphs and some extra males which you can feed as you see fit :wink:
Honestly if I had wanted to hide the roaches from my husband I could have done it pretty easily. I keep the bin in a closet he never goes into, and since they don't smell or make noise he'd be none the wiser...until he went into the closet at least, lol. Fortunately the roaches were actually his idea so I didn't have to worry about that :mrgreen:

Yeah, I wouldn't need very many of them! I would probably feed him some dubia once or maybe twice a week. I don't think I could totally deprive him of his supers LOL.

I'll get back to you on that later though... My brain died. I have to pack for my trip now LOL.

Aaah it's been awhile since I've posted! Nothing much has been going on...lots of bad weather since the last time I posted so Sarth wasn't very happy and has been hiding quite a bit. Horn worms seem to be the only thing he'll eat right now besides a couple mouthfuls of his greens so my dubia colony is exploding >.<. I might have to sell some off!
Anyway here are lots of new pics!

I took him out around 6:50ish for some morning cuddles before I left for work

Doing some puffers after nomming down a couple horn worms!

His favorite place in his viv is behind his big branch propped up against it, placing his head just so he can be mostly hidden but still see us. Sometimes he falls asleep in this position!

Thanks guys! Yea I have his lights turn on around 6:20 actually so that he has time to warm up/bask and be ready to eat when I get up 30 mins later, so he is used to it I could probably change that now though since he's not devouring repti-worms every morning like he used to. His lights are on at 9ish on the weekends but honestly I think he wakes up around 7 because the room he's in lightens up pretty quick.
