I figured I would post some pics of Sarth...even though he hasn't been eating very well the past month he still finds every opportunity to be cute! I think I might just keep adding pics to this thread along with my blog, we will see!

The most recent ones are at the top.

I thought this was adorable...he was kind of lounging against the glass, looking at me like "what?!"

Just trying out a close-up of his face...it's hard to get good pics during the weekdays when the sun is going down by the time I get home

Scoping out his rearranged tank

Morning stretches, as usual :)

Him looking *really* grumpy sitting in the sun on the back of our recliner. And I put his tail like that, lol

My husband took this

He loves to explore the coffee table, not sure why

I did not put him like this, lol. I should have entered it in this months photo competition!

Him still being really mad from the vet's visit the night before. He looked so hilarious, all puffed up with the black beard. I started petting him and he deflated while managing to look confused.

Just looking cute. This was right around when he stopped eating about a month ago.

Holy! Daed is HUGE!!! he has like a tiny head compared to his body  Heh, Sarth is being a mommies boy, freaking out that your picking up another bearded dragon besides himself  lol I love how smug Daedalus is, just sitting there while Sarth is giving him the stink eye XD I wonder what beardies say to each other? Daed probably walked up to sarth in the tub and started saying "cant touch this! bum bu bu bum bu bu buuum cant touch this!" XD

Actually we are fairly certain now that Daedalus is a girl, which might explain some of the weird behavior! And yes Sarth is a huge momma's boy  He seems to be getting a little more used to Daed, at least he doesn't instantly start bearding and bobbing every time I walk by with her now.

Besides finding out she's a female, she's also pooped every day since we've had her (I'm giving daily baths for now), which I'm sure is a big change from the 1x every other week for her  I noticed when she's asleep she is almost the same color as Sarth, most of the time when she's awake though she's pretty dark. I wonder if it's stress or if that how she just is normally when she's awake. Sarth is usually always his light colors unless something is upsetting him, lol.

I think Sartharion is starting to brumate :( He has been picky about his food for the past month but the last couple days he hasn't been coming out of his hide much, and when he does come out he goes back almost right away. Today when I get home he was in his hide, so I took him out and set him on his basking spot and offered him some greens which he ate most of - he hasn't touched a roach since last Friday ~_~
Anyway after just 10 mins basking he walked over to his branch and tried to hide his head under it. I moved him again and he went and sulked on his stacked flagstones. After his lights turned off I put him by his hide, which he usually immediately walks into and snuggles up, but this time he kind of just stayed there...so I moved him further in and he still hasn't moved on his own!

Brumation is the only thing I can think of since some other people's lizards are doing the same thing. It makes me so sad!

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that! Brumation is a pain isn't it? I usually suffer from beardie cuddling withdrawal, when Khomez brumates, he wants no part of me  although this weather is def not helping, it's been gloomy and cold, but the yesterday and today it's humid and hot!

Yea the weather is part of the reason I'm not a big fan of this state, lol.

It is very frustrating though, the brumation guide here says some go into a deep sleep or don't brumate at all and everything in between  When I got up this morning Sarth had pulled himself into his hide instead of sticking halfway out, but he was awake, head up and looking around. I took him out for a bit and set him on his basking platform which he didn't jump off of immediately at least.

It's been about a month since I stopped giving him hornworms and about a week since I've seen him eat a roach. I even offered him one of Daed's superworms but he ignored it. He still eats most of his greens though. So I'm having a hard time figuring out if it's brumation or if he's still holding out for hornworms, but with the amount of time he spends in his hide it must be brumation... :| He's lost about 10 grams over the last month but since he's not eating much I think that's probably normal?

I guess I will give it another week and see if he changes his mind about eating, then I'll get him to the vet for a checkup. Ugggh!

Awww, brumation sucks! :( I think it sounds like he is brumating though. At first, Dudley just chills on the cool side a lot too. He's awake, but he just wont bask. Then he starts actually sleeping more.

But that's weird that he is still eating veggies. Usually, it seems like they give up their veggies first, but still want to eat bugs for a little while.

Leave him alone and let him sleep for a week, and see if he loses any more weight.

I'm having major beardie withdrawl symptoms here. :( Especially with the two adorable baby beardies at work... You are lucky that you have Daed now to keep you sane!!

Yea I'll just let him chill for now. Hubby said he was "trying to look like a rock behind his branch" today, so at least he's not in his hide...he was 346g when I weighed him a few days ago, I'll see if he loses anymore by next week. Should I just leave him be and see what he does, or can I still take him out for baths and stuff?

And yes Daedalus is such a sweetie! She fell asleep in my lap last night. And she no longer smells like a turtle, lol. *She* certainly has no problem eating right now  She will try to lift up her furniture if she sees a roach or super go under it, lol.

You can wake him up for a bath until he is "empty" LOL. You don't want him to brumate if he still has food in his tummy. But after he poops, if he won't eat anymore you can shut the lights off and let him be.

But if he still eats his veggies and stuff, leave the lights on as usual so he can bask if he needs to.

Awww, I really want to meet her!! It's nice to see a beardie who actually puts effort into eating LOL. It one of Dudley's bugs hide from him, he fully expects me to retrieve it for him.

Well Sarth is definitely brumating! I had him out for a little bit on Sunday and gave him a bath to see if he'd poop out the last superworm he ate, but no luck. After I dried him off he basked for about 10mins before he went back to his hide and shoved his face under his blankie. Well we left for the cabin over the weekend and he hasn't moved, and he cracked an eye at me when I peeked in there just now to make sure he was alive, lol.

Daedalus on the other hand shows no signs of going to sleep any time soon :p I asked her owner around when she went to sleep last year and he said she never really did, so that's exciting, hopefully she'll stay awake and keep me company :D I brought her with us to the cabin and she did pretty well. Not a fan of the 10 gallon overnight tank though, lol.

Anyway here are some pics of both, maybe the last pics of Sarth for awhile

Grumpy in the morning. My husband Nate kept taking him out of his hide not knowing he was trying to hibernate so Sartharion was getting mad, lol

This is when I suspected he was starting to brumate, he would never normally just shove his head into his perch like that

Cute pic from the last bath I gave him

Here's some of Daed!

Her first time outside with me last week. I'm having a new leash made for her but for now she gets to borrow Sarth's.

Head shot. She's always so dark, I'm not sure if that's how she normally is or what. When she's asleep her colors are closer to Sarth's

We's goin to the cabin!
P1010641.jpg

Stupid phone camera wouldn't focus right, but I had her tucked in the crook of my arm on the way home today. She enjoyed sitting there pretty much the whole time, cocking her head around and looking at everything that went by.

A pretty shot of her basking :)

I am definitely going to miss her when it's time for her to go home! :(

So scheduled a vet appt for Sartharion on Sunday, just to check up and make sure he's healthy and parasite free before I let him go to sleep. That's going to be a fun vet bill - exotics exam fee + fecal = $$$
I took him out this morning for some snuggles and he actually seemed fairly active and interested in what was going on. I put him back and left for work, 10 mins later my husband texted me a pic of him with a black beard, I guess he was upset I took him out  He pushed himself under his blankie again, but cracks a lid at me every time I peak at him.

Daedalus is being her usual piggish self. She is starting to lighten up more often and not have so many dark colors, so that is encouraging!

Oh, here is an amusing gmail chat I had with my hubby

me: [ Invalid URL Removed / p= t=154665 f=2 ] omg want one!!!!
1:09 PM im getting another bebe when daedalus is gone, they are just too cuteeee
1:10 PM Nathan: hrm
1:11 PM me: plus now that the roaches are established i wouldnt have to buy food
1:14 PM LOGGING OFF BEFORE YOU SAY NO

If you didn't guess anytime I ooh and awwe at babies I get glares and lots of "no's" from him ;)

I hope all goes well with the vet visit!
BTW, what vet do you go to? I observe at a great exotics vet in Burnsville if you ever need one. They even have a beardie as a clinic pet! :D

LOL @ your conversation. I think you should get the first translucent one!!

That's what I was thinking! He is gorgeous! And if he says no I'll just show him that convo, lol

I take Sarth to the Como Park Animal Hospital in St. Paul, they have a couple of exotics specialists there. The last vet I met with was great and was pretty knowledgeable on beardie husbandry. I don't think I got him this time, but since it's just a check up/fecal I'm not too concerned.
If you know a great exotics vet though I'll definitely check them out next time! Is it Valley View Pet Hospital? I think that might have been one of the places TCR said they take their reptiles to. Honestly Burnsville from my house is no further than St Paul

Working with three lawyers, I just wanted to let you know there IS a traffic offense for DDFS -- Dragon Driving for Slave. Just be careful!

Those pictures are super cute!

Yup, it's Valley View! They are actually the ones who gave me Wink instead of putting him to sleep. :D They are completely responsible for my beardie addiction now LOL. And every one that works there either has or had a beardie at some point. So I definitely recommend them!

When is Sarth's appointment?

Sunday @ 1pm. Although I was actually thinking of rescheduling to tomorrow afternoon sometime. I mistakenly thought my friend's bday party was on Saturday when it is actually Sunday :silent: Think I should reschedule for the other one?

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
