Sanitize basking log?

Just purchased this from the pet store and was wondering if it was necessary to do a deep sanitize before I put it in my enclosure

I didn't, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I'm sure it's always best to do it, but I also doubt most people do. You can always bake it in the oven at about 200 for about an hour. I think 160s to 180s is considered the good range for food sanitation.

I have one of those. When it gets dirty I rinse it off well and then bake it on low (about 250 in my oven) for 45 min or so.

Do you have to wait for the wood to competent dry before putting it in the oven like with the tile?

No I put it in while it's still wet to create some steam.
