I agree with you...Petco has a bad rep,but not ALL Petcos are bad I bought Jojo there and I wouldnt trade her for the world Like yours,she has the sweetest personality and lots of color.

And there is nothing wrong with a Petco beardie. 2 of the 3 that I have are from Petco. 1 of which I adopted from a customer. But my original from Petco is much sweeter than my other 2. And to me, is just as pretty as my Citrus X Tangerine that I got from a breeder.

Agreed, Thorn and Xerces are both from the same Petco on the same day and they are amazing :mrgreen:

I could spend all day laughing at their funny head movements, expressions when they se their reflections, excitement at the sound of their crickets under the tank ect...I do think i will purchase my next beardie from bloodbankbeardies though, because I want an more exotic color than what Petco usually offers. I hope to have four beardies when I am done

YES,Petco does buy from Sandfire Dragon Ranch.I saw the shipment statement with my own eyes.
I found this out when I went back to Petco to find out where Jojo came from.She was shipped from Sandfire at approximately 4 weeks old.

Did Sandfire ever get back to you? They are always at the White Plains expo ... have you approached them?

I think you are thinking of "Sunshine" being at the White Plains Expo. Sandfire Dragon Ranch is in California and that would be quite a haul for them :lol:

Btw,Dont you just LOVE that expo?? I could walk around there for HOURS on end!

I DO love the White Plains expo! I get there early and try to stay as long as I can haha. I hate it when they kick you out at 4:10.

A lot more people than I originally thought bought their beardies at Petco! I owe Petco a lot because they helped me discover beardies when I had never even heard of them! That was before I worked there, and now I have 3! Dave was the one I bought at Petco and this is him:

Dave is definitely a sweet boy. He's definitely the lover out of the 3 i have. He'd sit with me all day if he could.
And yes, he certainly is my fat boy. Losing a little weight since stupid brumation started (his first time) and it's 5 days an counting since he last ate a thing... I hate this!

But yes, I'm very very proud of my big man. :mrgreen:

I've spoken to the Petco near my house and they said they have never got their beardies from Sandfire Dragon Ranch.... They said they may get it from there if other sources are not available. I live in California, so they could easily get it from there, but they didn't. Maybe other Petcos do and some don't?

if a local breeder sells them cheaper, they will get them from there... its buisness, cheaper stock is better profit.

there is a breeder here i am very good friends with and he would sell his babys to a little shop here in Owaso Oklahoma called Pet Stop and he quit selling to them because he would go in there to see how they where housing them from time to time and he didnt like what he saw so he refuses to sell to them any longer. He is a good guy though. i think thats pretty admirable to give up profit to save little babys. i will post some pics of some of the babys he has available in the for sale forum tomorrow. he is a good breeder. my big female is from him. http://www.tulsareptiles.com

i dont personally own a dragon from a pet store but i have seen some very nice dragons come from the most normal looking babys! so if you see a baby you just cant live without i dont see any reason y not to buy them. they will be better off...unless you are a lucky beardie that ends up at atreyu's petco! lol! i bet those are the best pet store beardies around!

i dont personally own a dragon from a pet store but i have seen some very nice dragons come from the most normal looking babys! so if you see a baby you just cant live without i dont see any reason y not to buy them. they will be better off...unless you are a lucky beardie that ends up at atreyu's petco! lol! i bet those are the best pet store beardies around!

We try I love taking care of our babies. They are turning into spoiled little brats (we currently have 4 on the floor and 3 in the backroom. One is a return that lost her toes due to bacterial infection and the other 2 were just small from our last sandfire shipment, so we are keeping them there till they get bigger.) They get fresh Kale (keeps longer) or Mustard Greens w/ yellow squash, finely minced carrots, cilantro, and occasionally strawberries and blackberries EVERY single day. We even bought a vegetable dicer because they are so little. I love that my boss gives me free range to do/get whatever I see fit for them.

But the same goes for our other reptiles too. They're all spoiled. We have a 4 month old Tegu there that is an absolute sweetheart. (well as sweet as can be expected.) he gets to have a little minnow every once in awhile, and gets a pinkie once a week, with other random snack here and there.

I only wish other Petco's would take a step towards change. Makes customers and employees a lot happier when we are allowed to properly take care of them.
