Hey guys! I was wondering why my bearded dragon has foam bubbles in the corners of his mouth? I just noticed yesterday and it was still there today this morning. Please help! Thank you!
Do you happen to have a picture of that? Is the saliva clear in color or more like a mucous
instead?
Some excess saliva is normal, but too much or if it is really thick & off colored then he may
be developing a respiratory infection of some type. Can you review your tank setup for us,
such as the type/brand of UVB, temperatures, substrate, nutrition/supplementation & foods
for him so we can be sure everything is all good for him.
If you have any pictures to post of him along with the setup, you can post them, too.
I suggest you have a reptile vet examine her , take a swab and take it from there …. if it is only a very minor URI , you might be able to nip the infection in the bud with an increase in tank general temps 24/7 (to boost the dragon's metabolism and immune system) with daily F10 nebulization in a separate tank set up with a mister attached.
Pretty hard to treat if it gets into the beardie's lungs and become pneumonia …. then heavy duty meds are called for.
it may be a respiratory infection, but beardies also will bubble in their mouths when they're shedding on their face and breathe out of their mouths instead of their nose
