Running into glass....

My guy puff is constently trying to like run away like crawl up the glass or run away or something but he's been doing it all day. All he dose is bask, eat, drink, and run on the walls lol...so wat do I do???

thats normal for a beardie espicaly when they see something they want to climb outside thier cages its called glass dancing but u can make or buy backrounds and put in their cages so they can climb around on since they are part aborial

Hi!

Sometimes yes they do that, but just to make sure that there is not a problem and soemthing is not bugging him to cause him to react; what types of lighting are you using? is it Coil, Floresent strip, MVB and what brand of lighting? Also what do you messure your temps with? Stick up, digtal with probe, gun, round Dial types?

Just fyi he shoudl not be bashing himself into the glass. Trying to climb it and sort pushign his nose against it is a bit normal.

In use a tube for my uv/uvb and and that's a Exo-terra 8.0. My basking is a sun-glow exo-terra 100w just a normal baulb

ok thanks for the info. The exoterra 8.0 does not put out enough UVB it is ok for temp. but you really need to get a Reptasun 10.0 they have better levels of uvb. The Reptaglo 10.0 is not good because it has inconsistant levels of UVB liek the coli bulbs and can cause eye problems. But if your beardie is lethargic and basking alot as you say then I would go with the better bulb and should see improvement. I myslef have a Mercury Vapor Bulb they are more expensive but the over all health is better with one of these. You can get the Reptasun 10.0 at Petmountain.com alot of people in the US get them here and it is the least expensive place.

Also, you didnt answer what your taking your temps with, this is also a key factor in their behavior.

He could be seeing his reflection in the glass and trying to mate. Dancing around bobbing his head and scratching at the glass. I was told it is normal because me Ra does this on a ritual

Sometimes they will just glass dance when they want out, or they see their reflection this is normal. All in All it sounds like pretty normal behavior. They lounge, bask, eat and soetimes get the gumption to run around. I woudl get the better bulb though for max. health overall. He could develop MBD with too low ubv levels.

So you ever take him out to let him run around? I think they get board being in the same lil viv all the time. I let Judah sit on my desk when it is sunny out so he can look out side. I keep him on a heattign pad so he can be warm and look out side longer. (FYI heating pads are not a good thing to use, I only use it once in a while just when hes on my desk.)

Yeah my dad is the same way! I told him like a month in advance I was getting a bearded dragon and he was like "no".
