Reptisun 10.0 Question

Do I have to hang my Reptisun 10.0 bulb inside the tank or will it be ok to put it on top of the cage screened top?

Your beardie needs to be able to get within 6-8 inches of the tube with nothing in between (screen, plastic,glass etc.)

The reason why I ask is because Zoo Meds website says that you can use the Reptisun 10.0 above screens.

Yes they do say that and no it isn't going to be giving your beardie enough UVB. I had mine mounted on top of the screen with a reflective hood and my baby developed MBD.

Thats not completely true..I know zoo med has a terrarium where you can put the light inside it and it has a reflector in the back of the light..Thats the way I have always had it and I have never had any problems with my beardie. But make sure there is a spot where he can get 6-8 inches though so he can get enough of the UVB

Hello,

The screens can filter out up to 30%+ of the UVB which can greatly affect the efficiency of the exposure your dragon will receive.
If it is possible, mounting it on the inside of your tank, directly overhead, is the best way to mount it, directly beside the basking light.
